Flooding in India
The English are noted for their obsession with weather, but in India the weather is predictable for its extremes. This year the summer reached temperatures of 40+ degrees and then came the torrential monsoons with the mighty Ganges bursting its banks and flooding much of the area around our schools.
This year it has been particularly bad, causing serious hardship for the people. Luckily only one of our children was

badly affected and had to evacuate their house. Soni, one of our un-sponsored girls, was, therefore, taken into the girls dormitory at Guria for a few days.
The good news for the children is that they got to go on a boat for the first time, as the teachers used the opportunity to take them on a trip. A lot of the children had never seen a flood like this before and are quite sad now it is going.
Last weekend Anil Sahu, our Administrative Officer, sent me these photographs of the floods, including the famous Ghats in the Holy City of Varanasi.
