Hip Arthroscopy for Diagnosis and Treatment of Hip Pain
Kayal Orthopaedic Center uses a relatively new, minimally invasive surgical procedure to diagnose and treat some forms of hip pain. Dr. Kayal and Dr. Pope both perform this "hip arthroscopy" procedure on an outpatient basis. Hip arthroscopy allows your orthopaedic surgeon to look inside your hip joint through a tiny camera to determine why you are having so much pain. Arthroscopy is a common surgical procedure for shoulders and knees, and has recently been used with success for hip injuries, including: - Arthritis
- Snapping hip syndrome
- Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)
- Bone spurs
- Labral tears
Hip arthroscopy can reduce pain and inflammation, and speeds healing significantly. Some treatments may also be carried out during the procedure, such as the removal of bone spurs or cartilage repair. Dr. Kayal and Dr. Pope are two of just a handful of orthopaedic surgeons in the NY/NJ area who perform hip arthroscopy on regular basis. Arthroscopy is sometimes called "keyhole" surgery. The incisions around the hip joint are small, allowing access for instruments and tools without high risk of infection and a long recovery time. Reduced pain in your hips gives you a greater range of motion and improved mobility to keep you active and comfortable. At Kayal Orthopaedic Center, as always, our goal is to leave you EMPOWERED, HEALTHY, and PAIN-FREE. Schedule Your Consultation Today!
