Sammy the Star™ Goes to School

This year we're putting special emphasis on our Sammy the Star™ Educational Program, and you can participate too! This program is a great way to teach kids about environmental stewardship while increasing brand awareness for your company. Brand awareness is important, of course, because you want people to remember your name the next time they need products for their home.

In March the Sammy the Star ENERGY STAR Educational Program partnered with the Thompson Creek Window Company to teach classes of third grade students. Wanda Angel (Brand Manager for ProVia doors and windows), Katie Sushko (Public Relations Coordinator for the Thompson Creek Window Company) and Elaine Tholen (Environmental Educator for Fairfax County Public Schools) combined their "energies" teaching at Centreville Elementary School in Fairfax, Virginia.

The children were engaged and excited to learn about saving energy, renewable and non-renewable energy sources, and the importance of the ENERGY STAR logo. Since then, Katie Sushko has taught several more classes at the school, presenting Sammy the Star curriculum for kindergarten through second grade students.

Clearly the folks at Thompson Creek know a thing or two about brand awareness. In 2014, they were ranked #6 on Remodeling Magazine's annual list of the top 550 replacement contractors in the United States.
