One very important marketing strategy that cannot be overlooked is building brand equity within your community at the homeowner level. We refer to this as a grassroots campaign because it builds brand awareness with current and future consumers.
ProVia's "Sammy the Star" ENERGY STARŪ Educational Program teaches children about the importance of saving energy, what the ENERGY STAR mark means and how to measure energy usage.
The student kit is equipped to teach 25 students and includes coloring books, learning books, crayons and pencils. The teacher's guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to teach the program. The program is designed for children in 4th and 5th grades to learn about ProVia, ENERGY STAR and how to save energy. It can also be used for trade shows, 4-H projects and community club meetings.

Here are some tips on how to promote the "Sammy the Star" ENERGY STAR educational program:- Learn about your local school districts. Contact the person for community education. Sometimes it's the Superintendent or a teacher that is assigned to community programs.
- It's good to start contacting these decision-makers by the middle to end of July, to schedule meetings for discussing the program. This will allow adequate time to schedule the in-class presentation.
- Learn about your community. Find out where else, in addition to the schools, you can make the "Sammy the Star" ENERGY STAR educational program work for you. (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Library Programs, etc.)
- Have fun! Get your brand out into your community and enjoy doing it!
