A Festive Night
Friday, December 19


Supporters of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra are invited to a celebration of the season, A Festive Night, Friday evening, Dec. 19, at St. James' Anglican Church beginning at 7 p.m.

 

Music will be the order of the evening, featuring the Stratford Perth Youth Orchestra, directed by Ben Bolt-Martin, and a group of SSO musicians. There will be carol singing and readings. Special guests will include Berthold Carrière (SSO music director emeritus), the David Keeley/Laura Burton family, and a surprise guest.

 

Refreshments will include baked goods, hot cider and Tea Leaves tea. Take-away baked goods and some other items will also be on sale. Tickets ($25) are on sale at Fanfare Books and at the door. Proceeds will go to support the SSO.

 

Location: St. James' is at the corner of Mornington and Hamilton streets in Stratford, up the hill from Huron and Mornington.

Liesel Deppe named orchestra manager
Ms. Deppe will coordinate ongoing activities as well as seek new opportunities to promote the orchestra and expand its reach.

"We are very excited about having Liesel as our orchestra manager," says Nigel Howard, president of the SSO board.

Devon Roulston, percussion 
Ms. Roulston, in her fourth season with the SSO, is finishing an Honours Bachelor of Percussion Performance at Laurier University.

SSO board member Moriah Linton is an active volunteer in Straftord Perth. She is Regional Vice-president, Personal Banking, Stratford Woodstock for BMO Bank of Montreal.

Jan. 24 concert sold out 

Although tickets for the Saturday, Jan. 24, Celtic concert with Loreena McKennitt are sold out, a few tickets for Friday, Jan. 23, are still available from local ticket outlets (Fanfare Books, Blowes Stationery downtown, Festival Marketplace kiosk and Lyric Flowers in St. Marys).

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to help with the two Celtic Celebration concerts Friday and Saturday, January 23 and 24, at Knox Presbyterian Church.  


Duties may include:
- taking tickets
- handing out programs
- manning doors
- helping with crowd management
- intermission activities
- directing traffic outside
- looking after silent auction tables 

 

Volunteers will not need to pay for tickets on the night they are on duty.
