Drink a toast to summer, the SSO and Ontario's rich farm culture at the Orchestra's annual outdoor celebration of all things musical. Tour the Murrays' fabulous perennial gardens, visit the cow barn, imbibe the incomparable country air.

 

The concert will feature Slide by Slide, a trombone quartet with an eclectic repertoire that includes classical music, Dixieland, jazz and more. Susan Follows, principal trombone for the SSO, is a member of the group, which also includes John Monkhouse, Bob Phillips and Dave Davidson. Susan, John and Dave, all University of Western Ontario grads, have been playing together for more than 25 years.

 

Also performing will be three young men who placed high in recent Ontario province-wide music competition:

--Connor Delaney, first place, music theatre senior level

--Nicholas Dolan, second place, music theatre senior level   

--Sean Dolan, second place, music theatre junior level

  

They will be accompanied on the piano by David Murray.

Wine, beer, soft drinks, lemonade and water; free finger food

DIRECTIONS FROM STRATFORD:
Drive west from Stratford on Highway #8; watch for New Holland implement dealer on right as you near Mitchell; shortly thereafter turn left onto West Perth Road 155; the Murray farm (a working dairy farm) is the first one on the right. Look for the balloons at Road 155 and in front of the farm. 

 

NOTE: Please bring a lawn chair.

Season 10, The Journey So Far, will feature
Loreena McKennitt in Celtic Celebration
 

The SSO has announced a Season 10 concert lineup that features Loreena McKennitt as headliner for the Orchestra's mid-winter Celtic Celebration concert. Ms. McKennitt will sing selections from her latest album, The Journey So Far, a title that has been adopted by the Orchestra for its tenth-anniversary season.

 

The season's first concert, First Night of the Proms, will be Oct. 4. For a closer look at the entire season, click here.
