SSO's Celtic Celebration  promises January thaw
Will you be there?

The Stratford Symphony Orchestra will send temperatures soaring with its annual salute to Celtic music on Saturday, January 25, at Knox Church in downtown Stratford.

The concert will feature Stratford fiddler Dan Stacey, as well as the Stratford Police Pipes and Drums, and will be conducted by Barbara Young, SSO co-music director. Last season's Celtic concert packed the house and is sure to do so again.

The program will include solo sets by Dan and his band, selections  by Dan

Pipes and Drums

with the orchestra, solo selections by the Pipes and Drums as well as the Pipes with the orchestra, and four feature numbers by the orchestra. (See Program  and Program Notes.)

The concert begins at 7:30 Saturday, Jan. 25. Knox Church is located at Ontario and

Waterloo streets in Stratford. Tickets ($35 for adults,$20 for students) are available at Fanfare Books, Blowes Stationery and Downie Street Bakehouse in Stratford and Lyric Flowers in St. Marys, as well as online and at the door. For additional information contact Sharon McDonald, SSO office (519-271-0990).

A reception and silent auction will follow the concert.

Celebrity Dinner March 8
will feature Roger Honeywell

Tenor Roger Honeywell will return as guest performer for the SSO's Celebrity Dinner fundraiser March 8, hosted by board member David Murray and Annamarie Murray. Mr. Honeywell, who recently played the role of Bob Boles opposite Ben Heppner in the Canadian Opera Company's Peter Grimes, will sing arias from the great operas.

Annamarie will serve a seven-course gourmet meal, using her own garden ingredients, and David will select wines to complement the feast. Call for tickets early as only 16 are available.  Tickets are $125 (tax credit $75). Contact Sharon at 519-271-0990.

The SSO's first Phantom Ball:

Miss it if you possibly can

Not coming on April 1, 2014: The Stratford Symphony Orchestra's Phantom Ball is the event of a lifetime you will want to miss. If there was ever an opportunity to avoid dancing until you drop, eating limp canapés, paying a monstrous bar bill, and spending hard-earned cash on auction items you don't really want, this is it. Purchasing a ticket for Stratford's gala non-event of the year will support this deep-seated need.

Keep watching Con Spirito for details about this fascinating non-event. You've never seen anything like the Phantom Ball--really.
