Dear CIPS member:
In this issue we are pleased to announce that Caron Harrang (NPS) is joining the News Brief staff as Managing Editor. Before coming to this position Caron served as Recording Secretary on the CIPS Board (2008-2010) which gave her the opportunity to learn a great deal about the history of the organization and the many talented individuals who have lent a hand in founding the confederation and strengthening the links between our member Societies.
Caron is excited to join forces with Ann Simmons (Direct Member Society) who will continue as Content Editor in charge of editing submissions and formatting the newsletter. Together they look forward to fulfilling the primary mission of the newsletter to report current news, events, essays, and photographs pertinent to the concerns of our geographically diverse membership. In so doing, the monthly News Brief is intended to foster a greater awareness of and sense of community amongst the societies that comprise our confederation.
Submissions to the newsletter will be evaluated by the editors and accepted based on relevance to the primary mission of the newsletter. Material considered pertinent to CIPS may also be invited and accepted from sources outside the confederation. However, the main focus of the letter and majority of its content will be to highlight the professional activities of our membership.
We encourage any member to send news and reports from your Society directly to Content Editor Ann Simmons. Or, you may send your submission to your local Society director to the CIPS Board (see list below) who will forward it to the News Brief. If you have questions about your material's eligibility-whether it "fits" within the mission of the newsletter-please feel invited to discuss it with one of your local directors or with Managing Editor Caron Harrang. The editors' email addresses are shown below, at the bottom of the page.
