kameleon gift setSince we introduced Kameleon jewellery to our store last August, it's been a hit with women of all ages. Kameleon originates from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and includes beautiful sterling silver pendants, rings, earrings, bracelets, bangles and broaches.

What makes this jewellery so incredibly appealing is that in the center of each piece, an interchangeable "Jewel Pop" can easily be inserted. With hundreds of Jewel Pops to choose from, there's always a perfect pop-in piece for every style, mood, outfit or occasion. www.kameleonjewellery.ca

While stock remains, we're offering special pricing on our 2013 Mother's Day gift sets. Packaged in a custom gift box, this beautiful set includes a never before released sterling silver heart pendant and chain, a limited edition Jewel Pop, an African Violet Jewel Pop and a collector's compact. (This also makes a wonderful graduation, birthday, anniversary or bridesmaid present.)

Join our Friday After Work Fundraiser
In support of the Mark Preece Family House

Last September our Take A Hike family learned first hand of the valuable services offered by the Mark Preece Family (MPFH).  Since then we've also learned that a number of our neighbours, friends and customers have as well.

The MPFH is a compassionate, affordable "home away from home" for families of critical care patients being treated at Hamilton hospitals.

Since the MPFH opened with fourteen rooms two years ago, over 1,000 families have stayed there; including more than 300 families from the Thunder Bay area. Unfortunately the demand for rooms is so great that many families are turned away. So with no government funds supporting it, a fundraising drive to build ten additional rooms is underway.

Knowing the difference the MPFH makes for "our families" during stressful times, we've partnered with the very lively 5-Man Acoustical Band for a special Pass-the-Hat fundraising event in support of the MPFH expansion project.

This all ages event takes place Friday, May 10th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Prince Arthur Hotel (Dawson Room).  So please gather up your family, friends and co-workers and join us for an evening of great music, refreshments and food.

For $15,000 a room at the MPFH will be named "The Thunder Bay Room". An additional $13,000 will  furnish it. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations over  $20.  You can also drop off donations at the store.   www.markpreecehouse.ca

We did it! 2013 Business Excellence Awards

We're very proudlogo to have received two Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce awards at last month's awards gala:  the 2013 Looking Good Award for our store's interior and exterior renovations and the very prestigious Quality Management Award for our high standards and continuous improvements in all areas of our operation.

We're also grateful for the support of our customers, families, suppliers and colleagues.  We couldn't have done it without you!
Thunder Bay Run for Women - May 11
 Bringing women together since 1980

merrel pace glove shoesThe Thunder Bay Run for Women is returning to its roots with the original members of the 1980 organizing committee at the helm.  For a registration fee of just $10, women of all ages can join the ever popular five kilometer walk, run or stroll around Boulevard Lake in support of cardiac awareness. It all takes place on Saturday, May 11th beginning at 10 am.

You may register in advance at Re/Max First Choice Realty (behind the McDonalds on Memorial) or on-site prior to the event. For information contact Gordie Garriock at 473-7420 or gordie.garriock@tbaytel.net

Congratulations gals for keeping this amazing event going all these years.

Now that the warm weather is here, let's get outside!

Break the cabin fever and get outside!  It's the eve of a beautiful summer and there's nothing better than getting outside to hike, bike, garden, paddle, camp or (carefully) soak up the sun.

If you need to get inspired or stocked up with supplies, please drop by the store.  We have plenty of new products to check out including: Darryl Blazino's book, "A Brief Time in Heaven"; Kevin Callan's book, "A Paddler's Guide to Quetico and Beyond"; and Zack Kruzins and Darrell Makin's kayaking guide, "A Paddler's Guide to The Lake Superior National Conservation Area".

Looking forward to seeing you,

Diane, Amy, Sue, Alex, Heather, Linda, Dee, Patti & Cathie
