Thunder Bay Room Fundraiser - May 10
For the past two years the Mark Preece Family House (MPFH) has been providing an affordable and compassionate "home away from home" for families of critical care patients being treated in Hamilton hospitals. More than 1,000 families have already stayed there; one third being from the Thunder Bay area. www.markpreecehouse.ca
A fundraising campaign to build additional rooms, including a Thunder Bay Room, is underway and the staff of Take A Hike are committed to help.
Please join us on May 10th at the Prince Arthur Hotel (Dawson Room) from 5:30 to 8:30 pm for the 5-Man Acoustical Band's final performance of the season in support of the MPFH. This all-ages, lively "Pass the Hat Event" promises to be a good time. Refreshments and food are available.
You can also catch the Band on Friday, April 12th.

On a personal note...
As many of you know, my Ukrainian heritage periodically surfaces at the store. Who can forget our popular "Baba" Christmas commercials from our earlier years?
Well, this time I'm helping get the word out about a fundraising event being hosted by the Holy Cross Church on West Victoria Avenue. On May 1st, between 4 and 7 pm, you can enjoy an authentic Ukrainian take out meal of boscht (beet soup), perogies (pyrohy), cabbage rolls (holubtsi), sauerkraut (kapusta) and sausage. Advance tickets are $10 and available at Take A Hike.
P.S. That's my mom (Elsie Petryna) and long-time family friend (Elsie Hodwitz) in the kitchen.
