Title: ISO 55000 - Asset Management

January 14, 2014

Abstract: This presentation will provide a sectional overview of the expected influence that this standard will have on changing a historical bottom up approach to asset management to a top down senior management approach of delivering value to an organization through the utilization of its assets.  Kevan will also discuss ISO 18436  'Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic of Machines' which in Part 4 specifies the requirements for qualification and assessment of personnel who perform machinery condition monitoring and diagnostics using field lubricant analysis.

Editors Comments; ISO 55000 is based on PAS 55 which is a very important tool for physical plant asset management. It is innovative in that it includes condition monitoring measures and performance measurement matrices that include training and failure analysis. It could be very important tool for lubrication and tribology. This talk should be of great interest to equipment operators, maintenance, sales people, educators, insurance companies and formulators because there could be shift away from 'good enough' products.

It could also force management to provide adequate training and to properly address the causes of component failures.

Also for labs and service providers are you qualified to ISO 18436 Part 4?

Bibliography: As the founder and past president of Schematic Approach Inc., Kevan has spent the past 25 years as a senior subject matter expert developing, advocating and implementing technical, business and operating strategies for improving the reliability of industrial equipment to numerous companies and industries throughout North America and Asia. His expertise focuses on improving and building maintenance foundations that promote continuous improvement of equipment reliability by ensuring people; technology and processes align in achieving a balanced, reliable, cost effective maintenance programs.
