What Our Students Are Saying About...
Total Body Balancing 1 with Curriculum Developer Kerry D'Ambrogio,
My partner, Bob, and I took the 'Total Body Balancing' class taught by Kerry D'Ambrogio in Portland, OR. I was looking forward to the class because of the on-line description of learning how to do a full body evaluation from a traditional osteopathic manual practice perspective. We got so much more.
First of all, Kerry is an amazing teacher. He is very confident (without being arrogant) in his knowledge, as well as, his techniques....
....I came away with a much better understanding of how and why to do a full body assessment which has given me the confidence to know that I can, now better serve my clients/patients.

Frequently Asked Questions Total Body Balancing
What is it?
Total Body Balancing (TBB) is a thorough full-body evaluation and five-phase treatment approach developed by Kerry D'Ambrogio, DOM, AP, PT, DO-MTP. How does it work? TBB uses long levers (arms, legs, head/neck, or torso) and rhythmic mobilization to release tension in the muscles, fascia, joints, and ligaments to improve circulation, along with nerve and energy flow.
What does it do? This approach influences all systems of the body - craniosacral, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, myofascial, and visceral - and supports the integration of specific treatments.
Why should I know TBB? Therapists gain methods to evaluate patients, and determine individualized techniques and treatment plans by utilizing the principles of ARTS: Asymmetry | Range of Motion | Tension Tests | Special Tests
Therapists learn: - Where to start - at the location of pain or dysfunction, or far away
- What technique to use when it is decided where
to start - Where to go next
- What to do when they get to the next site

At a Glance
What is it?
Local Body approach is a specific manual technique approach. Local Body Approach treatment techniques are utilized in Muscle Balancing, Joint Balancing, Fasical Balancing and Total Body Energetics.
Muscle Balancing (MB)
Muscle Balancing (MB) is a manual technique used to evaluate tender points and treat protective muscle spasm by inhibiting muscle spindle activation, thereby decreasing afferent impulses to the brain.
- Muscle Balancing for the Upper Quadrant (MBUQ) seminars teach evaluation and treatment of protective muscle spasms of the cranium, cervical and thoracic spine, the ribcage, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.
- Muscle Balancing for the Lower Quadrant (MBLQ) seminars cover treating and evaluating the lumbar spine, pelvis, hips, lumboscaral and sacrolliac joints, knee, ankle, and foot.
Joint Balancing (JB)
Joint Balancing (JB) is a direct manual therapy technique used to treat joint hypomobility, hypertonic muscles, fascial tension, pain and swelling by positioning an affected joint at its restrictive barrier. Gentle isometric contraction is used to relax and lengthen the muscle and/or fascial tension and normalize the joint dysfunction.
- Joint Balancing Upper Quadrant (JBUQ) seminars teach evaluation and treatment of the cervical and thoracic spine, the rib cage, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand for somatic dsyfunctions.
- Joint Balancing Lower Quadrant (JBLQ) seminars cover treating the lumbar spine, pelvis, hips, sacrum (lumbo-sacral and sacro-illiac joints), knee, andle, and foot for somatic dysfunction.
Fascial Balancing (FB)
Fascial Balancing (FB) is a manual technique used to evaluate and treat fascial tension or scar tissue in the superficial and deep level surrounding muscles, bones, joints, sutures and organs by employing short and long-lever techniques applied directly, indirectly or in combination.
- Fascial Balancing Upper Quadrant (FBUQ) seminars teach evaluation and treatment of the cranium, cervical and thoracic spine, the ribcage, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.
- Fascial Balancing Lower Quadrant (FBLQ) seminars teach evaluation and treatment of the lumbar spine, pelvis, hips, lumbosacral and sacroiliac joints, knee, ankle, and foot.
Total Body Energetics (TBE)
Total Body Energetics (TBE1) works with the energy dynamics of the anatomy and physiology of the body, and aids in releasing both acute and chronic patterns. TBE can be used as an incredibly effective stand-alone technique or integrated with other healthcare modalities.
