WORKING WONDERS:
Changing Lives with CranioSacral Therapy

Living Pain-Free

The following Working Wonders excerpt
was submitted by Karl Simon, ND, MH

Following my first CranioSacral Therapy class, I was very eager
to get back to my shop in rural southside Virginia so I could
share what I had learned with my customers.

After returning home, I was disappointed to find that people
who came into my shop with pain and headaches looked at me
with suspicion when I told them about my new methods. They
would take advice about herbs, but it sometimes felt like an uphill battle to get them to try anything that was different from orthodox medical practices. Even when I offered treatments without charge, I got very few takers and no repeat customers. I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong or if I would ever be able to use my newfound knowledge.

CONCUSSION AND POST-CONCUSSION SYNDROME
Is CranioSacral Therapy an
Appropriate Treatment Modality?

By Yonina Chernick

The use of the terms "concussion" and "post-  concussion" syndrome (PCS) has increased in the lexicon of healthcare practitioners and laypeople. In minor league, amateur and professional sports, we see an increased frequency in the diagnosis of concussion injury as well as the detailed quantification of its accompanying signs and symptoms.

Help raise funds for former professional football players concussion program.

Recently, the Upledger Institute Clinic in conjunction with the Ricky Williams Foundation conducted a preliminary pilot research program on concussions with former professional football players.  The goal is to be able to provide some evidence-based research to show the effectiveness of CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and other related modalities on concussions.  The results are currently being collated and prepared to be submitted for publication in a peer reviewed journal.  Until that time, we can not release the results, but we do have some video footage we can share.  The Upledger Foundation and the Ricky Williams Foundation are working together to schedule additional programs as well as fund a documentary on their programs. The hope would be to get the NFL recognition, endorsement and support to help our work be better recognized, more credible and available to all those that would benefit.

We are in the process of putting together Concussion Program Treatment teams in all 32 NFL cities.  If you are interested in applying to be a therapist on one of these teams for a possible future program, email [email protected] upledger.com and an application will be sent to you.  If you are interested in making a tax deductible financial contribution to help fund these programs and the documentary, please visit RickyWilliamsFoundation.org. The Ricky Williams Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

AETNA CEO ADVOCATES FOR CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Excerpt taken from TECHONOMY -
Jan 10, 2014 @ 2:56pm

Mark Bertolini surprised many
Techonomists at our conference in Tucson last month with his frank talk about alternative therapies and the need for the current health system to be "creatively destroyed." Who would have thought the top man at one of the nation's largest health insurance companies would be an advocate for craniosacral therapy and meditative chanting?

Katy Perry's Alternative Worldview

Here is an article from The Week magazine featuring Katy Perry discussing her use of alternative therapies to keep herself in top shape when she is in on tour. Good thing
we (and
Katy Perry) know a thing or two more aboutCST and alternative therapies than the online conspiracy theorists!

STUDY GROUPS &
PRACTICE GROUPS

Enjoy the Benefits...

Study Groups create wonderful opportunities to practice the skills you have already learned and further your understanding of your chosen modality by sharing experiences and asking questions of other like-minded practitioners.

Study Groups include hands-on practice, techniques review and time available to have your questions answered.  Study Groups are led by Instructors, Teaching Assistants, or Certified Therapists.

Practice Groups are more informal, and allow for students to practice in order to prepare for further study.

To learn more about adult learning and why Study Groups are so important, click here.

To become a Study Group Leader or Practice Group Organizer, please contact Kristen Bloom at [email protected]
