Short Bio on Author KCarl Smith

KCarl Smith

KCarl was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas but raised in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended college at Alabama A&M University and currently resides in Trussville. During his time serving in the United States Army, KCarl completed the Airborne and Air Assault programs. He has also been appointed to state commissions by Governor Bob Riley and Governor Robert Bentley. KCarl is the proud father of three children and five grandchildren.

In 2009, inspired by the principles of the founding fathers, KCarl launched the grassroots initiative ConservativeMESSENGER. The group gained national acclaim and has since transformed into the Frederick Douglas Republican Movement. KCarl's mission, however, has continually been to help recapture the Republican Party's political distinction and to promote racial unity.

KCarl is a political motivator that frequently speaks to Tea Party groups, Republican organizations, colleges, churches, etc. He has authored Frederick Douglas Republicans: The Movement to Reignite America's Passion for Liberty.

Here is a link to KCarl's YouTube where you can view videos of his message. Please also visit his website to learn more about Frederick Douglas Republicans.

The Greater Birmingham Republican Women look forward to hosting KCarl this month at their luncheon.  KCarl will be available to autograph copies of his book.

Letter from GBRW President
Mary Windsor Saggus

Dear  :

GBRW is going HIGH-TECH! Members Britney Garner and Megan McIllwain are bringing us up to speed. We will have more presence with social media and will be updating our website. If you are not on Facebook and Twitter I encourage you to take the plunge to be kept up to date on current political events.

GBRW will also begin taking credit cards. Hooray! No cash or check? No problem. HOPEFULLY we will be set up for plastic by Monday, but please be prepared with cash or check just in case.

Phyllis Davis is organizing efforts to put together a GBRW directory. Please fill out the information form when you receive it and return to Phyllis. Grady Thornton, who graciously gives his time and talent to be our photographer will take pictures of members to be included in the directory.

Unfortunately, we must increase the price of lunch from $18.00 to $20.00. We have been struggling to stay at $18.00 for over a year. We no longer break even, so have no choice but to make the adjustment. Inflation has hit GBRW also.

Kudos to First Vice President Janie Dollar for the great line of speakers for 2013. With Mike Hubbard in January, Governor Bentley in February, and KCarl Smith in March, no wonder we are having such outstanding attendance. Stay tuned for future line up.

Thank you all for working hard to make GBRW informative, enjoyable, and successful.

Sincerely,

Mary Windsor
