Market Updates
Business Conditions - According to the July 2015 Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) Business Conditions Report, metalforming companies expect little change in business conditions during the next three months, with 65 percent of participants anticipating that economic activity will remain unchanged during the next three months, 18 percent predicting that activity will improve and 17 percent forecasting that economic activity will decline. The report also shows a slight improvement in incoming orders and a minor decline in average daily shipping levels. For additional information follow the link to the report below.

Lead-Times from the domestic stainless strip mills are now into Late-September/October 2015 for many grades and gauges ranges. Stainless wire lead-times are currently short and supply is generally good.  Lead-Times from offshore suppliers of all products are running 14-16 weeks.

Amstek Metal closely monitors material pricing and availability developments in the stainless and high carbon markets. Any significant changes in market conditions will be communicated in a future newsletter or through your local sales representative.
Surcharges - August 2015
LME Nickel: The average used to calculate August stainless surcharges was at $5.37/lb. in July or $0.50/lb. lower than the average used for the July Surcharge. Nickel is trading around $4.90/lb. in early August.

Surcharges: The lower trading average of Ni in June, July and previous months has reduced the stainless strip and wire surcharges in August (302/304 strip down $0.06/lb. and 302/304 wire is down$0.05/lb.).
