QU Mourns the Loss of Alumni Services Director Bill O'Donnell
Quincy University is saddened to announce the passing of Alumni Director
Bill O'Donnell '73 . After bravely battling kidney cancer for much of 2012, Bill started hospice in mid-January and spent his final days at his Chicago home with family and friends.
It's been said many times that no one loved Quincy University more than Bill (or "Billy O" as he was affectionately known by close friends). Since his freshman year in 1969, Bill has shown nothing but admiration and respect for QU and for more than four decades, he has taken every opportunity available to ensure a positive future for his alma mater.

A founding member of the "Sons of Mohabe" social circle, Bill previously served on Quincy University's Board of Trustees as well as president of the National Alumni Board. In 2003, he and wife Maureen (Breakey '76) were named "Alumni of the Year" in recognition of their years of dedication to Quincy University.
Appointed as Director of Alumni Services in 2008, Bill was instrumental in rejuvenating the alumni services brand and reconnecting with alumni of every generation. With a seemingly endless personal network of eager and enthusiastic alumni professionals in Chicago, Quincy, and across the nation, Bill epitomized the role of Alumni Director.
He was very much looking forward to celebrating his 40th reunion at this year's Homecoming Weekend with his fellow 1973 classmates.
A Chicago native, Bill is survived by Maureen and their four grown children: Matthew, Brian, Caroline, and Kelly.
