Greetings!

Welcome to the Autumn; MyGOAL is excited to share a new program coordinated by the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network on basic rights in special education. We also want to acknowledge our supporters for the 2012 MyGOAL Gala event held on September 29, 2012 at the Palace in Somerset. It was a beautiful time where we presented awards to three special people, Amanda Ebokosia, Lisa Carter Mills and Phil Hartman for their dedication and commitment to the Autism World and to MyGOAL. We were very proud to award five $1000 mini grants to five families to support their children in accessing resources.

Our heartfelt attitude goes towards our attendees, donors and sponsors for their overwhelming support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Genevieve Kumapley

BASIC RIGHTS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION
An Introduction to the Special Education Process
October 15, 2012 6:00PM - 8:30PM

MyGOAL will be hosting this free workshop in collaboration with the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 6:00PM - 8:30PM.

This presentation provides families with an introduction
to their rights and  responsibilities as parents of  children with special needs  under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act  (IDEA), the New Jersey  Code, and Section 504 of the Vocational  Rehabilitation Act. Parents begin to identify dreams and  goals for their children,  understand laws and learn advocacy strategies that will help them help their children  reach those goals. Parents of classified children and  children who are having  difficulty in school, but may  not be classified, will benefit  from this training.
