Active Military or Veteran
 If you are a current Seton parent who is an active member of the military or a veteran, please join us for a complimentary continental breakfast on Friday, November 11th at 7:30 AM in the library to honor your service to our nation. Your daughters are encouraged to join us as well. Please RSVP to Mrs. Nancy Hernick at nhernick@setonhs.org if you would like to attend.

Leadership Seminar
November 3 - LEADERSHIP SEMINAR On November 3rd all classes will participate in a Leadership Seminar from 8:10 to 1:30. Dismissal is at 1:30. Students will welcome over 30 Top Women in the Washington Metropolitan who have been honored as Women Who Mean Business. Speakers will share their path to leadership and guide students as they seek to become women leaders. Speakers will be great resources for students as they build their resumes, contacts, and mentors. LUNCH WILL BE FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS THAT DAY.

Junior Class Meeting
There will be a meeting of the junior class on Monday, Oct. 24 at 7:45 am in the cafeteria to prepare for the ring ceremony. If you are not in school by that time, your friends can go over the details with you.

Monday Morning
On Monday, Oct. 24 all freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will gather in the Brooks Center before school because of the law induction and the junior class meeting in the cafeteria.

Sharing Hope and Renewing Energy
November 8 - SHARING HOPE AND RENEWING ENERGY We are welcoming Charlene Allen as our facilitator for this day. Juniors and Seniors will participate in a facilitated sharing to renew our energy despite the conflicts of the world. Students will be in groups of five with a staff member and will discuss their experiences, their hopes,and their suggested actions. It will not be an open forum, but rather a guided discussion of how we can work together to strengthen our understanding and unity.

Drivers' Education Class
Drivers' Ed Class: The next driver's ed class of the year will start on October 31 and end on November 21. The class runs from 3:15-5:15 after school and is taught by Arrive Alive Driving School. Students must be 15 years old to take the course; the classroom portion and driving portion of the class must be completed within 18 weeks of the first day of the class. Students must have their learner's permits in order to complete the driving portion of the class. The cost of the course is $340 and checks should be made out to Arrive Alive Driving School and given to the instructor on the first day of class; students must be up to date on tuition payments in order to enroll. Students may sign up in the Main Office. Deadline for sign-up is October 26. Contact Mrs. Rohan at arohan@setonhs.org with any questions.

Diamonds Club - Fundraiser
Seton Diamonds Club will be hosting a fundraiser at the Panera Bread - Vista Gardens (10531 Martin Luther King Jr Hwy, Bowie, MD) on Monday, October 24th from 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm. Panera Bread will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Seton Diamonds Club. Come out to support the Seton Diamonds Club! Music Boosters
Music Boosters Meeting and Dance Marathon Volunteers Needed Parents of students in Seton's Music Program are invited to a Music Boosters meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, at 7:00 pm in the Band Room. Please send at least one parent/guardian from each family to this important meeting, where the main topic of discussion will be the upcoming Dance Marathon scheduled for November 12. You will earn service hours for attending the meeting as well as for serving at the Dance Marathon. The Dance Marathon is the primary fundraiser for the Music Department. You can help make the event a success by signing up to volunteer. Scholarships
The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus in partnership with the Knights of Columbus Insurance Advisors sponsor several High School Scholarships for its members as well as other Catholic students. The Frederick M. Gossman Memorial High School ScholarshipDesigned to assist members of the Knights of Columbus holding membership in councils within the jurisdiction of Maryland in paying tuition for their sons and daughters at accredited Catholic High Schools, two (2) grants of $1,500.00 per year for up to four years, and one (1) additional grant of $1,500.00 per year for up to four years funded by the Maryland Knights of Columbus Insurance Advisors, will be awarded. Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need. Continued support after the first year is contingent on continued academic success. The children of deceased members are also eligible, provided the member was in good standing at the time of death. Funds are applicable to tuition only. The William J. O'Brien Jr., Memorial Catholic High School ScholarshipThree (3) grants of $1,500.00 per year for up to four years will be awarded. Eligibility for a grant under this program is open to Catholic students who are residents of the State of Maryland. Affiliation with the Knights of Columbus is not required. However, children and grandchildren of a member of a Knights of Columbus council within the jurisdiction of Maryland are also eligible. Applicants must have been officially accepted at or must be students at accredited Catholic High Schools. Applications will be judged on academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need. Continued support after the first year is contingent on continued academic success. Middle States Accreditation
Middle States Accreditation
Elizabeth Seton High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Every seven years, each school must be evaluated to ensure it is meeting all standards. ESHS is currently undergoing an accreditation process developed by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS). This process will take 18 months in which a self-study conducted by stakeholders will be used to establish objectives for growth and improvement in student performance and organizational capacity.

Tuition Assistance for Next School Year
APPLICATIONS OPEN SEPTEMBER 26 DUE: DECEMBER 2
Dear Parents and Guardians: As of Sept. 26, the Archdiocese will be taking applications for tuition assistance for school year 2017-2018. Here are the necessary steps to apply: 1. Visit www.adw.org2. Click on the "Education" tab. 3. Click on "Catholic Schools" 4. Click on "Tuition Assistance" 5. Click on the appropriate "TADS Financial Aid Application" (English or Spanish) PLEASE REMEMBER: 1. You must apply each year. It does not roll over. 2. No aide from Seton is given unless a family has applied to the Archdiocese first. DEADLINE AGAIN: DECEMBER 2

Winter Uniform
The students will be transitioning into the winter uniform starting Monday October 17. Students are expected to wear the gray uniform blazer with the white button down oxford shirt. If your daughter does not have the blazer or white button down oxford please go to Flynn and O'Hara to purchase these items.
It is the students responsibility to come to school each day with the uniform blazer. Please put your daughters name inside of the blazer for identification purposes.

2017 Yearbook
Add a Personal Touch to the 2017 Yearbook!Elizabeth Seton High School's yearbook includes a section of "ads" for our seniors so that friends and family can send messages to their graduates. These ads often include photographs, greetings, and good wishes. For the 2017 yearbook, you may either create your own ad using the Herff Jones website or you can send in your text and photos and the yearbook staff will create your ad for you. For the past several years, the Seton Music Boosters have had two Redskins season tickets available for purchase where the proceeds from sales have benefited the Music Program.
