Summer Youth Session - Light the World

The School of Theology and Religious Studies at Catholic University of America received a grant to begin a summer youth Institute, "Light the World!" from June 12-18. "Light the World!" gives rising high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to learn and experience the intersections of faith and culture.  Each morning, talks and group time share what the Catholic intellectual tradition has to offer on the intersection of faith and that arena.  Topics include: science, art, sports, business and politics.  Experts in these fields will meet with students each afternoon.  Places to visit include: NASA Goddard Space Museum, Washington National Park, National Gallery of Art and the Capitol Building.  Over the course of the week, students will work on a project to speculate how their own future profession might intersect with their faith, and each student produces a brief video clip on the topic.  The Institute also aims to give high school students a taste of college life for a week; living, eating and praying as college students do.  For more information please contact, Catherine Graveline at Catholic University via email: graveline@cua.edu or visit: http://www.cua.edu/academics/pre-college/index.html

This is an extraordinary pathway to college scholarships.  Students who have this type of demonstrated leadership on their resumes, are a leg up in the consideration of college funding.  It is worth the investment of time.

Year of Mercy

Celebrating the Year of Mercy
On Tuesday, December 8th, the Church opened the Year of Mercy in response to the wishes and reflections of Pope Francis.  We invite all of you to become familiar with the Year of Mercy by watching this short Youtube reflection.
Please click here for video.

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us, "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." And St. Paul echoes this in Hebrews 13: "Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels." To welcome the stranger is a powerful yet challenging work of mercy. It requires us to move beyond how someone is different from us, beyond the many factors that may divide us, to acknowledge first and foremost their human dignity. The homeless, refugees, immigrants, the poor, anyone different or "strange" - in mercy, we let go of these divisions, remembering that above all else we are all children of God.
In the midst of all that is going on in the world, who are the strangers that I can personally welcome, and how can I encourage others to do the same?
Lord Jesus, help me to see your face in every person I meet - neighbor and stranger - and by welcoming them to welcome you. Amen.

Registration Update - New Information

Dear Parents,
In June, Seton will be migrating to a new database system to handle all of our computer work including our tuition and financials.  In preparation for this move, two pieces of information are critical to you:
  1. FACTS FEES:  Any parent who has unpaid FACTS FEES must pay them by May 31st.  Failure to pay these fees will prohibit your daughter from taking exams in June.
  2. When you re-register, the new system will only allow parents who are checking that they want to pay their tuition in two installments, EXACTLY TWO INSTALLMENTS on July 1st and January 5th.  Therefore, if you cannot pay your tuition in exactly two installments, you must sign up for monthly installments through FACTS.  Parents will not be allowed to sign up for two installments of tuition and pay partial amounts of these two required payments.
Thank you for your cooperation with our system migration.

Sister Ellen Marie
