Please find below Parent/Student Announce for Wednesday December 16, 2015.

Dear Parents,
I am sure that many of you have heard me say that this year has felt like Christmas all year long with the many gifts that we have received from people who love Seton very much.  We have also been abundantly blessed by God who enters our world every day to give us hope, peace, and love.
Let us wrap ourselves in gratitude this Christmas and let us give the gift that we are to all those who need encouragement, tenderness, and attention.  Let us remember to give this gift in the lowliest of places and to people who are often overlooked or ignored.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.  Please travel safely and rest well.

Sister Ellen Marie and the Seton Staff

Period 6:

Period 7:

All others:
7 period Day/
Christmas Show
  1. Students will follow their regular schedule and attend all classes where an exam is given. Some classes where an exam is not given may still want students to attend to complete final projects, etc. If your teachers request your presence in a non-exam class, you must attend. If you have a study hall or a class where an exam is not given and your teacher has not requested your presence, you do not need to be present in school; however, your parents still need to report your absence.
  2. We strongly discourage absences during exams. If an absence occurs, the student will make up exams missed during the make-up period. Parents must report absences to the main office. A student who is absent due to illness or a death in the family will not be penalized. Exams missed for any other reason will be assessed a grade penalty.
  3. Students who arrive late (after 8:15 a.m.) must sign in with the main office before reporting to the exam.
  4. There will be no supervision provided after 3:00 p.m. during exam week. Students are to be in the cafeteria until 1:30. At 1:30, students will report to the library for study and will then be picked up from the formal lobby. Our recommendation is to make arrangements to be picked up immediately following exams each day.
  5. NO CELL PHONES ARE PERMITTED IN THE EXAM ROOM. Possession and/or use of a cell phone in any manner will merit a zero for the exam.
  6. We expect students to uphold the honor code. The sharing of information/material from the exam will be considered a violation of the code and will result in a zero.
  7. Students are to dress in full and complete uniform for exams.
  8. All financial obligations must be paid by December 11th in order for students to take exams.

Year of Mercy

Celebrating the Year of Mercy
On Tuesday, December 8th, the Church opened the Year of Mercy in response to the wishes and reflections of Pope Francis.  We invite all of you to become familiar with the Year of Mercy by watching this short Youtube reflection.
Please click here for video.

What is mercy? Mercy is the experience of God's love that forgives faults, heals hurts, and connects us more deeply to God and each other. Pope Francis describes mercy as "the bridge that connects God and man, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness" (MV, 2). This Advent as we prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus and to share His love, reflect on how you can open your heart to God's mercy and share that mercy with friends, family, and those most in need.

Seton Diamonds Self-Defense Workshop

In keeping with our objective of empowering our girls, Seton Diamonds Club has secured Annapolis Defense and Security to conduct "Fight Like A Girl", a 2-part self defense workshop focused on teaching women and girls what they should pay attention to in their surroundings and relationships, as well as things they can do to protect themselves. In addition to the lecture, they will do a 2-hour demonstration class where instructors will teach maneuvers that can be used in the event of danger. We will break these sessions up into 2 separate days. The breakdown of the program is as follows:

Classroom Portion (Friday, January 29, 2016, 3-5pm):
(Approximately 2 hours)
Roommates & new friends
Dorm Life
Parking areas & common spaces
Social Settings
Red flags in unhealthy relationships
Date rape
Trusting your senses
Discussion of strikes, elbows, kicks and how to use your voice as a tool

Hands on Portion (Friday, February 5, 2016, 3-5pm):
(Approximately 2 hours)
Basic strikes
Basic knees
Basic elbows
Heel palm strikes
Reverse elbow strike
Weak & strong spots
Striking do's and don'ts
Car drills - trunk release, how to disable a light/signal when in a trunk, how to stop an abduction when you are in your car.

Here is a link to a news story done on the program:

The cost per student is $55 (normally $125). Because we have a very large group this year and there is a limited student to instructor ratio, we will need to do this on a first come/first serve basis. Once slots are filled, the workshops will close. If you are interested in having your daughter participate, please print, sign and return the attached waiver and consent form along with payment (checks made out to ESHS; Diamonds Self-Defense in memo) no later than Friday, January 15. We must have both forms AND payment in order to secure your daughter's spot.

Thanks for all of your support,
Jodie Johnson, Club Moderator

The  Seton Crew Team is campaigning on the "RallyMe" site for a much needed new/gently used boat. Please see below details of the site and how to donate.

The Seton Crew RallyMe fund raising site can be accessed at the link below:

https://www.rallyme.com/rallies/2307/roadrunners

For this type of fundraiser to be successful, everyone involved, both rowers and parents need to get the word out in every way possible.  There are several options for sharing the Rally via email and Social Media.  This should be shared early and often.  Don't limit yourself to who and how you share, friends, family, acquaintance's, co-workers  (if that's an option) complete strangers and even businesses.

Once on the site the Rally can be shared easily to several Social Media sites and email by simply using the "Share This Rally" buttons shown here in the red box.  Click the button logon and share away.
