Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up

Parents please remember to be patient when dropping off and picking up your daughter.  Also, be mindful of your speed when exiting around the corners.  Our first priority is the safety of our students.

Music Boosters Meeting

Music Boosters Meeting on October 21 at 6:30 pm

On Wednesday, October 21, at 6:30 pm, there will be a Music Boosters meeting for all music families. The meeting will take place in the auditorium. Please send at least one parent/guardian from each family to this important meeting, where the primary topic of discussion will be the upcoming Dance Marathon in addition to a few other music activities and events.
You will earn service hours for attending the meeting. Additionally, as parent volunteers will be needed to help make the Dance Marathon a success, you will have the opportunity to earn service hours by participating in that event. Come out to the meeting on October 21 to learn more about the Dance Marathon and volunteer opportunities!

Update on Blazer Orders

Flynn & O'Hara has notified us that blazer delivery has been moved back until Thursday, October 22.  Representatives from Flynn & O'Hara will be present on 10/22 to hand out blazer orders to students during all lunches on this day.  Students will be required to begin wearing the winter uniform pieces, excluding the blazer until it arrives, starting Thursday, October 15. Fliers are posted in each classroom for students to refer to regarding approved winter uniform pieces and you may also refer to page 38 of the student handbook.  

Seton Graduate in Need of Assistance

We have recently been notified that a very recent graduate of Seton is in need of a place to live.
Her mother has left the country and her father is not in her life.  She is on the verge of being homeless.  She works and goes to school, but she desperately needs a place to live.  If anyone can be of help, please contact Sister Ellen Marie  at ehagar@setonhs.org

Support Seton's Music Program - Redskins Tickets

Redskins tickets are available for purchase, where proceeds from sales will directly benefit Seton's Music Program. Two tickets to each of the following games are available at the listed prices, along with "green" parking passes. The seats are in Section 102, Row 7, Seats 15 and 16.

Raffle Tickets Available for Redskins-Cowboys Game
The Music Boosters also are raffling off a pair of tickets, plus parking passes, to the Redskins-Cowboys game scheduled for December 7. For only $20.00 per raffle ticket, you will have a chance to see one of the best matchups of division rivals in the NFL!

Raffle tickets are available for purchase in the school's Main Office.

Paid Intern Position

Local policy research firm in Riverdale/College Park is seeking an intern for office services coordination/receptionist responsibilities 3-5 days a week from 3:30 to 5:30.  The pay is $8 an hour.  If interested, please contact HR@optimalsolutionsgroup.com.  Computer experience, confident communication skills and enthusiasm are welcome!

Library Dedication

On Thursday, Oct. 29, Most Reverend Bishop Knestout will come to bless and dedicate our library. We are in need of a few parents who can assist with the reception for this wonderful event.  We would need your help from 5:30 to 9:00.  Please email Sister Ellen Marie at ehagar@setonhs.org if you would like to help.

2015 Seton Fall Open House
The PCO will be hosting the 2015  Fall Open House Reception on Sunday, November 1, 2015.  We need parent volunteers to help setup, serve, and cleanup at the reception. Parent Club Organization Service Scholarship

Parent Club Organization Service Scholarship Committee

The Parent Club Organization established the Marion T. "Mr. Bill" Eldridge Service Scholarship to recognize students who have performed exceptional community service. The Service Scholarship Committee, consisting of parent volunteers, is tasked with evaluating student applications regarding their volunteer service, as well as the selection of the winners of the scholarships.

Yearbook Ads for Seniors

Elizabeth Seton High School's yearbook includes a section of "ads" for our seniors, in which friends and family send messages to their graduates. These ads often include photographs, greetings, and good wishes.

Athletics
 
If your daughter wishes to try out for a Seton sports team next year, she must have a current physical (performed after June 1, 2015) on file in the clinic before tryouts. Forms can be found on our website (setonhs.org) under the tabs for admissions and athletics or click here.

The Knights of Columbus have two High School Scholarships. One is for students whose parents are members of the Knights and the other is open to any Catholic student who is a resident of the State of Maryland.

Hugh O'Bren Leadership Program

Hugh O'Brien Leadership Program (HOBY) is designed for Sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to becoming effective, ethical leaders. Students attend a two/three day seminar and meet other student leaders in their state. Each school can send one representative from the Sophomore class. To apply you must submit an essay of 100 words or less. Topic: Describe the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school or community. Application deadline: November 2, 2015.  All essays should be submitted to Mrs. Cason and will be reviewed by a committee.

Careers in Medicine and Engineering

Students interested in careers in medicine and engineering: The Perry Outreach Program is hosting an event on Saturday, October 31st at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. This is a free, one day hands-on experience for women. Students in grade 10 and higher can apply at http://perryinitiative.org/programs/student-online-application/. The deadline is September 30th.
