Registration for Grandparents' Day closes this Friday, Sept. 25.  All grandparents must be registered to come.  Thank you

School Fair

School Fair hosted by Seton's Latina Team
On October 4, Elizabeth Seton High School will host a school fair hosted by Seton's Latina Team.  ALL ARE INVITED. There will be great Mexican and El Salvadorian food as well as games, entertainment and FUN!  
                             MASS:  11:00 in the auditorium
                            GAMES, FOOD, AND FUN:  12:00-5:00
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!  Please email Sister Ellen Marie at ehagar@setonhs.org. We need volunteers from 12:00 to 6:00.  It is a great opportunity for people to be able to volunteer on a Sunday.

ES White Crew Socks

The bookstore has the ES White Crew Sock in stock.  Students will be expected to wear the ES White Crew Sock only by Friday September 25.

Turf Field Comes to Life







Congratulations to Ashley Paquet who scored the first goal on the new turf field at our varsity soccer game on Sept. 21.  Congratulations to Varsity Field Hockey for taking the first win on the field with a goal from Sarah Dunn with three seconds left in overtime!  GO ROADRUNNERS!
Senior College and Financial Aid Night

The Senior College and Financial Aid Night will be TOMORROW - Thursday September 24th at 7:00 in Seton's auditorium. This event will cover important information about graduation, the college application process, the financial aid process and scholarships.

Year after year, the teachers and young ladies in Seton's Music Program continue to offer impressive vocal and instrumental performances that showcase their talents. The performance put on by the Redskins in their 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday was quite impressive as well!
Please show your continued support of our Music Program and Boosters while also supporting the Redskins, or your favorite NFL team, by purchasing tickets to the Redskins' remaining home games! Proceeds from sales will directly benefit the Music Program.
Two tickets to each of the following games are available at the listed prices, along with "green" parking passes. The seats are in Section 102, Row 7, Seats 15 and 16.

Campus Tour - Salisbury University

Juniors and Seniors:

The Guidance Department is hosting a campus tour to Salisbury University on Tuesday, October 6th.  We will leave Seton at 7:30am and return around 3:30pm.  The cost of the trip will be $10 for bus transportation.  Salisbury University will be providing lunch.  If your daughter is interested in attending the campus tour, please have her come to Guidance to receive the permission slip.  The first 25 students that bring the signed permission slip and fee will be able to attend.  If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Lawhorne at alawhorne@setonhs.org.

Time to Celebrate - Dedication of the New Track and Field
On Friday, October 9th, all parents and families are invited to the Dedication of the Track and Field.  The Ceremony will begin at 11:00.  We ask all parents who plan to attend, to please email Monica Horton at mhorton@setonhs.org. We look forward to celebrating with great gratitude God's blessing to us.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day - September 29, 2015
Elizabeth Seton High School is proud to announce the first celebration of Grandparents Day.  We want to invite all of our students' grandparents to spend the day with them, see their school in action, and meet other grandparents.  Grandparents are invited to a full day of activities including a continental breakfast and lunch.  Activities will begin at 8:45 and conclude at 2:30.  However, please note a few other facts about the day:
  1. Grandparents may arrive before 8:45 if they wish to come with their granddaughter.
  2. Grandparents will be our guests for lunch.
  3. Grandparents do not have to spend the entire day with us.  Grandparents can actually arrive whenever they wish and leave as they wish.

8:45 - Meet and Greet in the Auditorium with continental breakfast
9:30 -12:30 - Attend interactive classes with students and enjoy being in high school again
12:45 - Lunch and tours
2:00 - Performing Arts Presentation to Salute Grandparents

#WalkWithFrancis Sock Drive

The Vincentian Service Club is sponsoring a school-wide #WalkWithFrancis Sock Drive from Monday, September 21st through Saturday, September 26th.  Students may bring NEW socks for men, women and children, which will be donated to the shelters and group homes of Catholic Charities.

This is part of our #WalkWithFrancis campaign, where we are being challenged to  Act, Serve and Pray, in preparation for Pope Francis' visit to the United States.

We will have a large silver box at the top of the butterfly stairs in the student lobby, to collect all donations.  Donations will continue to be collected at our Friends of the Poor Walk, on Saturday, Sept. 26th, at school from 9am through 11am.

Friends of the Poor Walk - Vincentian Service Club

WHEN:   Saturday, September 26th from 9 - 11 am

WHY: Help us to raise money to support all of the local service projects that Vincentian Service Club does throughout the year!

SERVICE HOURS: Receive up to 2 disadvantaged service hours for participating in the ENTIRE walk

DETAILS: The first 100 people to come to the walk on 9/26/15 that have pre-registered online, and have raised at least $10 will be given a free t-shirt. A minimum $5 donation is required to participate. A prize will be given to the walker that raises the most money.

Driver's Education Class

  1. The first Driver's Education class of the year will extend from September 28 through October 20th from 3 to 5:00 p.m. daily.
  2. Six hours of driving will be scheduled independently with each student in addition to the above classroom time.
  3. The course costs $340.00.  Tuition payments must be current in order for a student to enroll in the class.

Students must sign up in Mrs. Burke's office by September 24th.

Careers in Medicine and Engineering

Students interested in careers in medicine and engineering: The Perry Outreach Program is hosting an event on Saturday, October 31st at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. This is a free, one day hands-on experience for women. Students in grade 10 and higher can apply at http://perryinitiative.org/programs/student-online-application/. The deadline is September 30th. Paid Internship at the Goddard School

The Goddard School in Bowie has one or two paid internships available in their early childhood education program.  If any student would like to learn more about this opportunity, please email our guidance counselor, Sylvia Cason at scason@setonhs.org.

Athletics
 
If your daughter wishes to try out for a Seton sports team next year, she must have a current physical (performed after June 1, 2015) on file in the clinic before tryouts. Forms can be found on our website (setonhs.org) under the tabs for admissions and athletics or click here.
