Exam Schedule for December-2014

			Period 7: 10:45-12:45	All others: 7 period Day/ Christmas Show

1. Students will follow their regular schedule and attend all classes where an exam is given. Some classes where an exam is not given may still want students to attend to complete final projects, etc. If your teachers request your presence in a non-exam class, you must attend. If you have a study hall or a class where an exam is not given and your teacher has not requested your presence, you do not need to be present in school; however, your parents still need to report your absence.
    
2. We strongly discourage absences during exams. If an absence occurs, the student will make up exams missed during the make-up period. Parents must report absences to the main office. A student who is absent due to illness or a death in the family will not be penalized. Exams missed for any other reason will be assessed a grade penalty.
    
3. Students who arrive late (after 8:15 a.m.) must sign in with the main office before reporting to her exam.
    
4. There will be no supervision provided after 3:00 p.m. during exam week. Students are to be in the cafeteria until 1:30. At 1:30, students will report to the library for study and will then be picked up from the formal lobby. Our recommendation is to make arrangements to be picked up immediately following exams each day.
    
5. NO CELL PHONES ARE PERMITTED IN THE EXAM ROOM.
   Possession and/or use of a cell phone in any manner will merit a zero for the exam.
    
6. We expect students to uphold the honor code. The sharing of information/material from the exam will be considered a violation of the code and will result in a zero.
    
7. Students are to dress in full and complete uniform for exams.

We need chaperone assistance for the Snowball Semi-Formal Dance on December 19th from 7:30pm to 11:15pm.  Specifically, we need parents who are willing to be outside monitoring the parking lots, and parents who are willing to be inside where the music can be heard (working the check-in table, food and drink tables, and monitoring halls and doors). If you are available and willing, please email Alison Reeves at areeves@setonhs.org with your name, and your daughter's name and SID number by Friday, December 12th. Thank you!

What is the Princeton University Summer Journalism Program?
We welcome about 25 high school students from low-income backgrounds every summer to Princeton's campus for an intensive, 10-day seminar on journalism. The program's goal is to diversify college and professional newsrooms by encouraging outstanding students from low-income backgrounds to pursue careers in journalism. All expenses, including students' travel costs to and from Princeton, are paid for by the program. Students who attend the program come from across the country. The program will enter its fourteenth summer in 2015.

As a  living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. To reach those individuals and communities that might not otherwise have access to this education, the Museum has developed a number of outreach programs-among the most successful of which is Bringing the Lessons Home: Holocaust Education for the Community (BTLH). In MEMORY OF OFFICER STEPHEN TYRONE JOHNS, the Museum established a program in his name to provide 50 outstanding high school students from the Washington, DC-area with an intensive seven-week educational internship at the Museum. Girls Who Code is excited to bring our free 7-week Summer Immersion Program to Washington, DC this summer! In the program, rising juniors and seniors are embedded inside a technology company each day. Here, young women get hands-on experience in computing concepts, mobile app development, robotics, web development and design. Daily classroom instruction is paired with talks and workshops led by female entrepreneurs, CEOs, developers, designers, and computer science majors that serve as mentors and role models throughout the program.  Field trips to leading technology companies allow young women to envision a future for themselves and begin networking with those in the field.

Free Engineering Conference at the University of Maryland

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 7th Annual Women in Engineering (WIE) DREAM Conference
 
WHO:  All high school students are invited to attend.Each student may be accompanied by one (1) adult chaperone who must register to attend.
 
WHAT:  Through interactive workshops, discussions and demonstrations, participants will be immersed in an exciting learning environment with the goal of igniting interest in engineering. The Clark School departments and student organizations like the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) along with our sponsors will participate in an information fair for attendees to enjoy at the end of the day.
 
WHEN:  Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM
 
WHERE:  Adele H. Stamp Student Union, University of Maryland, College Park
 
The conference is FREE and includes lunch for participants. Plus, students that attend the event and subsequently the Clark School at the University of Maryland will be eligible to apply for DREAM scholarships valued at up to $2,500!

The Center of Excellence High School Summer Enrichment Science Academy (HSSESA) is one of the many support programs offered through the COE to facilitate entry to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at Howard University. The HSSESA is a six-week residential summer enrichment science academy for rising 11th and 12th grade high school students. Twenty (20) High School students who demonstrate an interest in the sciences, a career in pharmacy or other health professions will be selected. The COE HSSESA selection process is competitive. In addition to demonstrated leadership skills, students must also have a high aptitude for science/mathematics and technology. Preference will be given to students who reside in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The COE HSSESA is a five day academic schedule that exposes students to the pre-requisite classes that are required for a major in pharmacy or other health professions. The curriculum focuses on science related material and includes classes in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Terminology, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Career Exposure in clinical settings. Students will be in classes Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 am to 4:30pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in their Clinical Hospital Sites between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Weeknights include scheduled tutorials and on weekends mandatory science and community focused excursions.

The Pharmacy Initiative Leaders (PILs) Organization at Howard University College of Pharmacy is proud to present an interactive workshop for all students who are interested in applying to professional school. The spring workshop was a great success, but we have added more sessions to further prepare you to be the best candidate! The workshop will be comprised of topics that are essential as you prepare to apply for professional programs.
