Prayer for Peace

Dear Parents:
As we begin this season of advent, I am writing to ask that you join our Seton Community in praying for peace. The events of our times both here in our own country and in other parts of the world can be most disturbing. No doubt our own students have hearts that are dismayed by the violence that is so very real and so devoid of respect and love.
As we pray, may we all become greater peacemakers in our own world in what we say and in what we do.  I ask that you take some time to talk about this with your daughter. Particularly, I ask that you help her to begin now to prepare well for her exams and to take responsibility for her own learning so that cheating, borrowing homework from others, sneaking answers on devices, etc. are not a part of the culture we create here with one another. Your guidance in this matter will be very significant.
I also ask that you keep Ms. Elena Bogrash in your prayers. Ms. Bogrash left for Russia on Tuesday to face the impending death of her mother.  As she tends to her family, we welcome back Ms. Agnes Estorninos, a seasoned Seton math teacher, who will teach for Ms. Bogrash until she returns at Christmas.
We also welcome back Ms. Elizabeth Ellison, a seasoned English teacher at Seton, who will be teaching for Mrs. Cunningham who gave birth to her daughter, Lucy, over Thanksgiving.
Thank you so much for all you are doing for your daughters.
Sister Ellen Marie

Christmas Show

  1. Students will follow their regular schedule and attend all classes where an exam is given. Some classes where an exam is not given may still want students to attend to complete final projects, etc. If your teachers request your presence in a non-exam class, you must attend. If you have a study hall or a class where an exam is not given and your teacher has not requested your presence, you do not need to be present in school; however, your parents still need to report your absence.

  2. We strongly discourage absences during exams. If an absence occurs, the student will make up exams missed during the make-up period. Parents must report absences to the main office. A student who is absent due to illness or a death in the family will not be penalized. Exams missed for any other reason will be assessed a grade penalty.

  3. Students who arrive late (after 8:15 a.m.) must sign in with the main office before reporting to her exam.

  4. There will be no supervision provided after 3:00 p.m. during exam week. Students are to be in the cafeteria until 1:30. At 1:30, students will report to the library for study and will then be picked up from the formal lobby. Our recommendation is to make arrangements to be picked up immediately following exams each day.

  5. NO CELL PHONES ARE PERMITTED IN THE EXAM ROOM.
Possession and/or use of a cell phone in any manner will merit a zero for the exam.

  6. We expect students to uphold the honor code. The sharing of information/material from the exam will be considered a violation of the code and will result in a zero.

  7. Students are to dress in full and complete uniform for exams.

Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award

Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award - It's What You Do That Counts!
Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? Hope instead of despair? If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award. The Violet Richardson Award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts such as: fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimination and poverty. Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are of particular interest. Soroptimist is an organization of women whose members volunteer in their communities, often working on the same problems that you do. Although we realize that volunteering is its own reward, we also know it feels good to be recognized for your actions. And that's why we sponsor this award.
