By now I know that many of you are ready to go to support our Capital Campaign for a new turf field and track and for the renovation of the library.  Attached to this email is a great way for you to start to earn your $2000 request. You have an information letter and a response form, which you can print as many times as needed.
We are selling ads for our Christmas alumnae/student musical.  Please used the attached paperwork and talk with businesses whom you support or businesses owned by Seton alumnae and ask them to be a sponsor.   It would be great if you could involve your daughter in asking a business for their support.
We would love for the ads to pour in.  Just a little bit of math for us:  if each family in the school got ONE  $50.00 ad, we would make $28,000.00.  And if everyone got ONE $100.00 ad, the thermometer would add an immediate $56,000.00  HOW AWESOME IS THAT!
Remember, if you will, our strategy:  break a big job into small pieces with everyone doing a small part and the result is BIG BENEFITS!!

Dear Seton Family,
As the fall season approaches, the Catholic Church celebrates two very important feast days: All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Traditionally, this has been the time when we pray for those who are now deceased, but who have impacted our lives forever.
On these two days, we would like to pray for your loved ones at the masses celebrated at Elizabeth  Seton High School. Throughout the month of November, we would like to continue our prayer for your deceased family, friends, and members of the Seton Community by placing your names at the foot of the altar in the chapel where they will be remembered at morning and evening prayer and at every mass in the chapel.
Seton is a family, and it is our privilege to pray for your loved ones. We promise to pray for you, also, as a way to express our love and gratitude for one another.

Final deadline for senior ads in the yearbook is Mon., Nov. 24!

The final deadline for placing an ad in the yearbook for your senior is quickly approaching.  The deadline for having the yearbook staff create your ad has passed, but you still may place an ad online, until Mon., Nov. 24.  

The first attachment below includes information about placing your ad; the second is a step-by-step guide from the company for creating the ad online. Please note that Seton's yearbook will include only 1/4 and 1/2 page ads.
 
Please also note that we are setting aside only 26 pages for senior ads, and many parents have already placed their ads. Please act soon to reserve your space by creating your ad!

The Music Department of Elizabeth Seton High School is once again selling beautiful 26" Balsam Christmas wreaths for $39.00.  They will be delivered directly to your door before December 15th.

Dear Music families,
The Dance Marathon is coming up quickly (Saturday, November 22nd). We hope that your daughter's fundraising efforts are well under way. Again this year, we are offering opportunities to win prizes if your daughter turns in all her pledge money on the day of the Dance Marathon. In fact, we plan to have lots of great prizes, including special awards at EACH grade level, Top FIVE overall winners, plus so much more if your daughter meets her minimum pledge requirement and turns in ALL of her pledge money on Marathon night. If your daughter needs extra pledge forms, they are available from each of the music teachers and on the Music Boosters webpage. Donations can be made online; from Seton's website, go to the Fine Arts tab and click on Dance Marathon 2014. If you have any questions about who has already made a pledge online for your daughter, contact Melinda Chen at Melinda.chen@gmail.com.
Each girl also is responsible for bringing food, drinks, or related items such as plates to the Dance Marathon. To ensure we have all the refreshments needed for the event, each girl will be assigned specific items to bring based on the first letter of her last name. Assignments will be given to the girls in class and will be posted on the Music Boosters webpage. Girls should bring these items to the kitchen during the registration time on Marathon night.

If your daughter wishes to try out for a winter sports team (swimming, indoor track, basketball) she MUST have a current physical (performed after June 1, 2014) on file in the clinic. The form to be completed by the physician can be found on our website under "athletics" or "admissions", or click here to access the form.

The Guidance Department is hosting a college tour on Friday, November 21st. We will visit Stevenson University and University of Maryland (College Park). The Pharmacy Initiative Leaders (PILs) Organization at Howard University College of Pharmacy is proud to present an interactive workshop for all students who are interested in applying to professional school. The spring workshop was a great success, but we have added more sessions to further prepare you to be the best candidate! The workshop will be comprised of topics that are essential as you prepare to apply for professional programs.
Topics covered include:

2.Interviewing Skills, including Mock Interviews
3. Cover Letter/Personal Statement Review*
Also, this fall's workshop will have a new segment focusing on professionalism etiquette to help you prepare for the next level!

Watson Scholarship:  The Thomas J. Watson Memorial Scholarship Program recognizes academic excellence among high school students planning to pursue a traditional baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year US college. Winners are selected based on SAT/ACT scores, leadership, and junior year academic performance. Financial need is not a factor in determining winners. Any amounts awarded take into account the cost of the institution's tuition and financial need, and can range from $2,000 to $8,000 per year. Junior parents: If your daughter is interested in Engineering, the University of Maryland's Clark Engineering School still has some spaces left in their Pre-College Scholars Program. Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award - It's What You Do That Counts!
Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? Hope instead of despair?
