ACTION ITEMS

Back to School Night

Thursday, September 11th at 7:00 p.m.

A message from Mrs. Burke to parents about parking for Back To School Night:  (Bring your daughter's schedule with you.)

1.  Parents may park in our lower lots and at the front of the school as spaces are available.  (Parents may NOT park behind the Sister's House off 58th Avenue or in any "reserved" spaces.  These spaces are for faculty.)

2.  Parents may NOT park around the cafeteria or flag pole area.  The spaces near the flag pole are for those with registered handicaps only.  The space by the cafeteria is for Seton buses that need to come and go to transport guests.

3.  Once lots/spaces on our site are full, we will send parents to the
Bladensburg Community Center.  Fill in starting at the far back spaces first. A Seton bus will begin to shuttle guests at 6:15 p.m. to our cafeteria entrance.  (We will take guests back after the event is over.)

4.  Once the Bladensburg Community Center lot is full, we will park parents at Bladensburg High School.  Seton buses will shuttle you to and from Seton for the meeting

Bring your daughter's schedule because you will follow her schedule during the evening. There will be 7 minute passing times and 7 minute classes. Wear comfortable shoes since there will be walking up and down stairs and between buildings.

Mrs. Burke still needs dad's to help with traffic.  Please contact Mrs. Burke at lburke@setonhs.org if you are willing to assist.

Back to School Night Parking

Due to events at the local elementary schools, we are very concerned about parking for Back to School Night.  Please come early.  Doors will be open at 4:00 for people to come right from work and to enjoy a little peace and quiet before the meeting starts.  Feel free to spend time walking around, enjoying the track, resting in the courtyard or praying in the chapel.
We welcome you to come EARLY.

Seton Equestrian Club

The Seton Equestrian Club has moved to Hideaway Horse Center (www.hideawayhorsecenter.com) in Brandywine, MD!  The club runs both a competitive show team as well as a beginner practice, so you do not have to know how to ride to join the Equestrian Club.

For more advanced riders, the Seton Equestrian Club participates in 5-7 shows per year run by the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA).  The IEA show series offers riders in grades 6th-12th a unique opportunity to compete in a sport that is normally not offered in schools.  Shows are held at local barns through Maryland and Virginia.  Through the IEA, students have the opportunity to earn scholarships towards their college education through awards in competition and through sportsmanship activities. For more information on the IEA, you can visit their website http://www.rideiea.org/about/index.html.

Equestrian Team practice will start the first week in September and club practice will start the first week in October.

Anyone interested in joining the team, should email Mrs. Bridget Rice or Ms. Rachel Turk at hideawayhorsecenter@yahoo.com for more information.

Top Colleges that Cost the Least.........

If you're a high school student whose parents make a combined $40,000 a year, you may think you don't have even a remote chance of being able to afford an elite, ultra-high-priced college like Harvard, Princeton or Stanford. But those schools have such large endowments ($32 billion, in Harvard's case), coupled with a commitment to making college affordable for any applicant who can overcome their challenging admissions requirements, that students from low-income households can expect to pay a fraction of the schools' sticker price of around $60,000.
