Music Trip

Parent meetings regarding the upcoming music trip will be held on Monday and Tuesday ( March 10 & 11) at 7:00 pm.  One parent/guardian for each student (or family) in Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Concert Choir and Chorale MUST attend ONE of the meetings. Two meetings are held so that parents can select the more convenient date.

Parents must bring the completed permission forms, the medical/emergency forms and copies of the students' insurance cards - front and back.  Students have already been given these forms to take home.

Parents will receive trip itineraries and important phone numbers at these meetings.

Study Abroad

Study Abroad This Summer and Earn College Credit!!
The executive director of ISA High School (International Studies Abroad) will visit world language classrooms on Monday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 11 to explain the exciting language/cultural immersion programs offered to high school students. An evening presentation for parents and students will take place on Monday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. Students as young as 14 and with no language experience are eligible for many programs. For more information, please email Patricia Pérez at pperez@setonhs.org.

Parent Organization

Save the date and earn (1) parent service hour per family for attending the Parent Club Meeting on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you!

The Parent Organization would like to give a warm and big thank you to Denise Johnson for chairing and organizing the Father Daughter dance this weekend.  Thank you to all who donated items and/or volunteered to make this a successful and magical evening for those that attended.

Service Scholarship Applications are due to the ESHS Parent Organization by April 14.  Please check the Parent Org web page for scholarship information and to download the application.  Parent Volunteers are needed to evaluate application submissions during April 29- May 9.  Scholarships will be presented during the Awards Ceremony on May 22nd. If your daughter is interested in taking HONORS Foundations of Engineering, there is still time.  Due to bad weather, snow days, and other confusions, we have extended the time for applying.  If you or your daughter are interested, please contact Mrs Gray (jgray@setonhs.org) as soon as possible and we can make arrangements.

Roadrunner Reverse Raffle

The Athletic Department will hold a Reverse Raffle Fundraiser on Sunday March 16th 1:00-4:00pm. The event will be held at T. J. Elliott's, Bowie.
How does it work?  Each athlete sells one (1) ticket. (You can sell more than one). Tickets cost $60 per ticket. Each ticket includes two (2) people for dinner, non-alcoholic drinks and one number. Every 10th number chosen wins a prize. Last number on the board wins $1,500.00 cash. You Need not be present to win. Checks payable to: Seton Athletics/cash preferred. Junior Parents - SAT Prep Course

Elizabeth Seton High School is offering an SAT Prep Course this spring for Juniors only.  A mailing was sent out last week with all the dates and details. This course offers 33 hours of instruction. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, however, there are 3 Saturday morning sessions.  The registration deadline is February 24th.  If you have any questions, please call the Junior counselor, Amanda Lawhorne, 301-864-4532 x 7123, alawhorne@setonhs.org.

Know A Girl Who Wants To Change The World

If she is a high school sophomore or junior tell her to apply to be one of our 50 Ann Power Fellows and attend a three day Leadership Training Program in Washington DC this Spring. Applications are being accepted now through March 1. Please click here for more information and application form.

Sophomore Parents

Sophomore parents: Mrs. Roeder would like to meet with you and your daughter to review how her time at Seton has been and to plan for the future. You can find more information in the letter attached. This program will run until everyone who would like to meet has had a chance to do so.

FBI Future Agent Training

FREE Summer Enrichment Opportunity: FBI Future Agent in Training (FAIT) Ages 16-18

Requirements:
  • Student is a United States Citizen.
  • Student is currently enrolled in an accredited high school. If home schooled, the student is recognized by their school district. (Students graduating from an accredited high school in the spring of 2014 are eligible to apply).
  • Student must be 16 to 18 years old at the time of the Future Agent in Training course ( August 4-8, 2014).
  • Student has a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.
  • Student has completed two essays (see section VII).
  • Student understands they must be present each day of the FAIT program and they will be responsible for their transportation to and from the FBI Washington Field Office. (FAIT program hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). 

What:
Future Agents in Training (FAIT) is a program hosted by the FBI's Washington Field Office that invites high school students to receive hands-on-training. This program works to educate and inform students about the mission of the FBI's divisions: criminal, counterterrorism, intelligence, counterintelligence, and administrative. Students learn from special agents, intelligence analysts, language specialists, and professional staff about investigative tactics that include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, capturing criminals, and solving cases.

For the fourth straight year, the At the Well Young Women's Leadership Academy will be held on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. The Academy is one of the only summer institutes for minority teen girls held on an Ivy League campus and the first to be held at Princeton University. The program is geared towards building leadership skills for minority girls entering the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grades of high school. Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program.The Prince George's County Government together with the Prince George's Community College (PGCC), the Greater Prince George's County Business Roundtable, the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce, the Prince George's County Public Schools and the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated students to participate in the County's Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) for 2014.  Salary: 18-19 age group - $10.00/hr. Young Women's Institute
This two-week program is held at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington and is exclusively for women who are currently juniors in high school (2013-14 school year). It offers a look into college life while enforcing a passion for business and is located at a renowned undergraduate business school.

2.  The second opportunity is through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  They are seeking applicants for its Youth Preparedness Council.  This Council is a unique opportunity for youth leaders to serve on a highly distinguished national council and participate in the Youth Preparedness Council Summit.  

Any individual between the ages of 12 and 17 who is engaged in individual and community preparedness or who has experienced a disaster that has motivated him or her to make a positive difference in his or her community, may apply to serve on the Youth Preparedness Council. Individuals who applied last year are highly encouraged to apply again.

The Future Latino Leaders Law Camp

The Law Camp will be held from July 12 to July 20, 2014 in Washington, D.C. This program is offered free of charge for selected Latina high school students (rising sophomores through seniors) from across the nation. Complete applications must be received by March 15, 2014.
