We are now starting to build student schedules. If your daughter has not re-registered, please download the attached forms. Once these forms are completed, please submit them to Sister Dorothy with your re-registration fee. Schedules will not be built for students until their re-registration is complete.

Junior Class Parents

The Juniors will be having a Breakfast Sale next Wednesday, May 8, to help raise money for our class. Parents are needed on that morning from 7-8:00am to make and sell Breakfast items. Parents can receive service hours from this fundraiser. If you are interested in helping with this fundraiser please email Ms. Dryer at ddryer@setonhs.org or Mrs. Brown at mbrown@setonhs.org by Monday, May 6. Thank you for your help!

Alumnae Mother/Daughter Breakfast

All mothers who are graduates of Elizabeth Seton High School should have received in the mail an invitation to an alumnae mother/daughter breakfast on Tuesday, May 7 at 8:00 am in the library.

Music Boosters

We will have our last meeting of the year on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30 PM in the band room. All parents of students in the music program (band, orchestra and vocal) are invited to attend. We will be discussing the upcoming end of year Music picnic which will be held June 3 from 12:30 to 2 PM.
 
Music Boosters is currently seeking several parents to serve as officers for next school year. Music Boosters provides financial assistance and support to the music students of Elizabeth Seton High School. We also work with the music teachers to provide them with volunteers, money and other support for the music program. 2013 Howard University Pre-College for Engineering Systems Summer Program

Summer program opportunity for high school juniors interested in the STEM field. The students spend several weeks on campus at Howard and stay in a dorm. Very intense program but the students get a wonderful experience that prepares them for what to expect when they enter college...and they are paid a stipend at the end. 
 
 Deadline to apply  is very soon.
 
Application requirements (essays, letters of recommendation, completed school documents, etc.) are detailed in the attachment. The only cost is a $150 registration fee once accepted.

StudyBuddy

All students have received an email from Mrs. Roeder, Guidance Counselor, regarding a free online tutoring program, StudyBuddy, for math and science. If you would like your daughter to take advantage of this opportunity, please have her follow the directions in the documents attached to the email and see Mrs. Roeder if she has any questions.

Calendar Change

Please note there is a change to the school calendar on Friday May 17.
Friday May 17 will be a schedule 2 day with dismissal at 1:30pm.

If you would like some summer work and have high energy and are an outgoing student then please read the attached flyer. The hours are really flexible for students involved in sports or have other commitments.

Essay Contest

ESSAY CONTEST OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The St. Charles Borromeo Philippine Medical Mission in Arlington, Virginia is announcing its 2013 student essay contest.

The contest is open to all U.S. based high school students, including home schooled students. The theme is "We are one human family and loving our neighbor has global implications". The contest encourages students to reflect on the value of caring for the poor in faith and charity. Essays must be 300 to 400 words, in English, typewritten and double spaced. Students must register with their name, email address, grade level, school name, city, state and teacher/advisor name at pmm@stcharleschurch.org no later than May 17, 2013. Students can send their essay as an attachment on email. Essays will be judged on embodiment of the theme, comprehension, organization, creativity and writing skills (grammar/punctuation/spelling).

The first prize winner will receive $200, the second prize winner $100 and the third prize winner $50. Limit one entry per student. Previous winners are not eligible to participate. The winner will be announced on SCBPMM's facebook page and website on June 15, 2013.

Junior and Sophomore Parents

If your daughter is interested in and planning to apply to Temple University or St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, please have her see her counselor as soon as possible.
The guidance department is planning a one day tour of these schools on Wednesday May 1st for the low cost of only $20.00. Price includes lunch and transportation.
Names will be taken on a first come, first served basis and the list will close on April 16th.
