Greetings!
Hurricane season is by no means over.  The remains of our beach house and others at the shore are a painful reminder of Sandy's wrath. Following are items you may want to store in an emergency preparedness kit in your home.  There's also a brief video on sizing up a portable generator, should you desire additional protection from power outages.

emergency It's National Preparedness Month -- make sure you have the following on hand should a storm produce power outages:
  • non-perishable food such as granola bars, peanut butter, crackers -- items that do not require water or cooking
  • bottled water, ideally one gallon per person per day for three days
  • battery-powered radio
  • flashlight
  • first aid kit
  • moist towelettes
  • wrench to turn off utilities
