Good morning,

I am very proud to announce that we are honoring one of our most inspirational coaches, Jack Massucci, by naming the baseball field in his honor.

For 34 years, Jack coached our baseball program, leading our team to seven conference titles, five IHSAA sectional titles, four regionals, three semi-state crowns, three Final Four appearances, and a state runners-up title. He has been recognized many times over, including being named to the Northeast Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame, the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, and the Concordia Lutheran High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Jack retired in 1996 with a record of 520 wins and 354 losses. His number, No. 24, is the only number in the history of Concordia baseball to be retired.

Jack's true love has always been baseball. Not only did he have tremendous knowledge of the game, he was able to create a relationship with his players that made them truly commit to Concordia baseball - not just for a season but for a lifetime. I can think of no other coach who has had more influence on young people in the field of athletics at Concordia than Jack Massucci.

During his many years at Concordia, he also coached football, basketball and wrestling. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Baseball-Softball Commission for 25 years, receiving the Charles Wilt Award and the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation Community Service Award. He is currently the vice president of the Wildcat Baseball League.

As many of you know, his influence on young people and his ability to relate to people go unmatched. Coach Massucci was and still is Concordia baseball.

We will be holding a special ceremony during the home baseball game on April 25 (with a rain date of May 9) to officially dedicate Massucci Field.  We will be putting up a new scoreboard this spring at the baseball field which will have Massucci Field displayed over the top of the scoreboard. A reception in Jack's honor will follow the game.

Please join me in congratulating Jack Massucci on this wonderful honor!

Sincerely,

Dean Doerffler
