This message is for the parents of the 8th Grade STEM Academy Students
STEM Drop Date Notification
To: All 8th Grade STEM Students and Parent/Guardians
 
 Re: Important Date - STEM/Foreign Language - October 22, 2015
 
As you are aware, the physical science, engineering, and foreign language classes are all being taken for high school credit. The grades received in these classes will be used when computing your high school GPA. If you remain in these classes after the drop date of Thursday, October 22, the final grades in these classes will remain on your high school transcript. If you decide to withdraw from either engineering or physical science, you will be withdrawing from the STEM team and be given a new schedule on a different team; however, you will remain in foreign language. If you withdraw from a foreign language class, you can remain on the STEM team, and you will be given a 1st period ELT class rather than foreign language.
 
Action Items For Parents: 
  1. Any requests for changes must be received by Matea Tarver, the 8th grade counselor, by Thursday, October 22.
     
  2. All parents should please sign the acknowledgment below or attached here and return it to your homeroom teacher by tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21.
We understand the final engineering, physical science, and foreign language grade received by any student remaining in any of those classes after Thursday, October 22, 2015, will be placed on the student's high school transcript and used in computing the student's high school GPA.
