Parent Health Night

Please join us for our 2nd Annual Parent Health Night this Monday, March 9th from 6:30-8:00 in the cafeteria!  We have 3 very special guests that will speak about the most important issues relating to your middle school child's health and wellness.  Megan Stark with Children's Healthcare will be speaking about the benefits of being active now and forever.  The Atlanta Track Club will be here to share more about our K Kids Club and how you can help to motivate your child to move more.  And, Stacey DeWitt*, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Connect With Kids, will speak to us on the challenges and choices that your middle school child faces each day.

*Stacey DeWitt is an attorney and award-winning journalist. During her legal career, DeWitt served as a deputy prosecutor working with disadvantaged children through the juvenile courts and family service agencies, where she developed a passion for helping educate families and communities about life-changing issues. Prior to her legal career, DeWitt was a television anchor, producer and reporter for ABC, NBC, and PBS affiliates. As a broadcast journalist, she developed a deep understanding of the emotional power of story-telling through video and its impact on behavioral change. DeWitt has produced more than 65 documentaries. In 2004, she was honored by Women in Film/Atlanta and received the distinguished Outstanding Achievement Award. As a producer and executive producer, she has won more than 40 awards for her work, including Emmy® Awards, Parents' Choice Awards, AiMe, Telly, Prism and Associated Press Awards.

Volunteers Needed for Building Foundations

Building Foundations (formerly known as Peer Proofing) is a unique volunteer activity that allows parents to work directly in the classroom.  It's a two-day program facilitated by PCMS parents during health class.  We show character building videos and facilitate discussion to address issues such as character, stress management, and risky behaviors.  The program takes place during each of the four quarters that students take health.  Our next session is March 12-13.  If you are interested in this program, please contact Elana Morris at elana2444@gmail.com to set up a time to watch our next session.
