Student Absences
The second semester is now underway. It is imperative that students absences be handled appropriately and timely. Students returning to school from absences must return with a note. To prevent Unexcused Absences from occurring, all timely written communication must be given or taken directly to the Attendance Office and given to Mrs. Denise King. Thank you for your assistance.

 

Year-Long Art for Rising 8th Graders

 

Welcome back, students!  All seventh graders who wish to apply for 8th grade year-long Visual Art MUST stop by the Art Room to pick up an Application Packet.  Packets and Portfolios are due BY Friday, January 16th, 4:00 p.m.

 

Only 30 students will be accepted into this pilot program for 2015-16.

 

No applications will be given out after January 13, 2015

MLK Day Service Opportunity

Urban Explorers of Atlanta and the PCMS Student Government Association would like to invite the staff, 
students, and families of PCMS to join them in honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., by participating in a Day 
of Service on Monday, January 19, 2015.

Peachtree Charter Middle School Informational Coffees for Rising 6th Grade Parents

 


PCMS invites parents of 5th graders to learn more about PCMS and information to prepare your rising 6th grader for middle school.

The informational coffees will be held on Tuesday, January 13th at 9:00 am in the media center and on Sunday, February 8 at 2:00 pm in the cafeteria. The sessions will last 1 hour and will be followed by a school tour.

You will receive information about the summer bridge program offered to rising 6th graders to help with the transition to PCMS, typical 6th grade schedules,
band/orchestra/choral offerings, daily PE, and the accelerated math program.
You will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the school's principal and teachers.

PCMS Spirit Wear will be available for purchase in the school store on January 13 from 10:00-11:00amand on February 8 from 3:00-4:00pm. Cash or check only.

Tours of PCMS are offered to parents by appointment if you are not able to attend one of the coffees.


Application for DeKalb School of the Arts
Applications for the DeKalb School of the Arts are available online at 
www.dsa.dekalb.k12.ga.us.  Informational flyers are available in the Counseling Office.  The applications are ONLY available to those 7th and 8th graders who have maintained a 3.0 grade point average with no D's or F's in the previous Spring or Fall semesters.  

Please have your child stop by the Counseling Office to pick up an application if you are interested in applying to the DeKalb School of the Arts, and meet these criteria. 

 

Ski Trip 
All students who have skiing or snowboarding experience
are invited to attend the PCMS Snow Spectacular at Cataloochee on Monday, January 19th.

$89 provides transportation (both ways), a lift ticket, ski/board rental.  Helmets are available for $5, or bring your own.
Please get a flyer from Coach Gartner or Mrs. Cygnarowicz (Art) as soon as possible -- we are SNOW excited about this trip:  It's SNOW fun without you!
Experienced parents, siblings, & friends welcome!

 

PCMS 2015 Baseball Tryouts
Tryouts will be held at Dunwoody High School's baseball field on Tuesday, 1/13 and Wednesday, 1/14 from 5:30 PM until approximately 8:30 PM.

In the event of inclement weather on either day, there will be a make-up tryout day on Thursday, 1/15.  PCMS announcements will relay all updated weather information.  This make-up date will not be used for those that cannot attend Tuesday or Wednesday.  
Please have your player at the fields 15 minutes early in proper baseball attire with all necessary baseball equipment.  Have their LAST NAME and GRADE visibly written on their outermost layer of clothing on their back (written directly on their shirt or on masking tape)

Basketball players-Basketball game takes priority.  
All teams will be posted on the gym doors on Friday, 1/16.

 
School Store Needs Volunteers!

The School Store is looking for additional volunteers to work weekday mornings from 8:00 to 8:45 am.  This is an easy, quick way to get face time at Peachtree, interact with the students, and get in your mandatory volunteer hours.  And remember--your kids are welcome to work with you!

DHS JV Tennis Tryouts

Dunwoody JV Tennis tryouts are scheduled for January 20-22 (Tuesday-Thursday) and will be held at the Dunwoody tennis courts.  All interested 8th grade girls and boys should see Coach Gartner for the physical forms that must be completed and turned in prior to tryouts.   If you have any questions, please feel free to call (678-676-7743) or email Coach Gartner at caryn_m_gartner@dekalbschoolsga.org
