Student Drop off BEGINS at 8:15 AM daily!

Cold weather is upon us and I need your help.  As the weather becomes colder over the next few months, I wanted to remind everyone that students should not be dropped off at school until 8:15.  This is to ensure that appropriate supervision is in place prior to the arrival of our students. I thank you in advance for your assistance.

Current 8th graders are starting the registration process for High School.

There are 2 meetings 8th grade parents should attend:

  • Advisement meetings at Peachtree in the cafeteria the week of November 17th

The purpose of these meetings is to have parents and students collaborate in the building of the High School 4-Year Plan. The Plan outlines what courses students will take to earn a diploma. Meetings will take approximately one hour.

Meetings are scheduled by current math level as follows:

  • Accelerated Math students and parents will meet at 8:55am on Monday, Nov. 17
  • High Achiever Math students and parents will meet at 8:55am on Tuesday, Nov. 18
  • General Math students and parents will meet at 8:55am on Wednesday, Nov. 19
  • Gifted Math students and parents will meet at 8:55am on Thursday, Nov. 20
  • Registration meetings at Dunwoody High School in the Auditorium on Tuesday, December 2

The purpose of these meetings is to have parents and students decide on a high school diploma, and to actually register for 9th grade classes. High school teachers will be available in the cafeteria before the meetings for questions.

Meetings are scheduled by Teams as follows:

  • Team Burdette and Team Gazzola in the Auditorium at 6:00pm. (High School teachers will be available for your questions between 5:30 and 6:00pm in the cafeteria.)
  • Team Posey and Team Bussert in the Auditorium at 7:00pm. (High School teachers will be available for your questions between 6:30 and 7:00pm in the cafeteria.)

Spanish translators will be available.

International Field Trip to Costa Rica!

Some teachers here at Peachtree are planning international trip(s) for the Summer of 2015. Right now the trip will be to Costa Rica, but if there are enough people, we might be able to offer a trip to England as well.  We're doing these trips for a few reasons.

  1. We feel it's important for students to see and experience foreign countries in a safe, fun, and educational way.
  2. These places are in the Middle School Curriculum; they will see these countries first hand which will supplement what they have learned or will learn in school.
  3. What better way to see environmental impacts than to experience them?  How else to make ancient cultures come alive than visit the ruins?

If you are interested in at least getting some more information about the trip, please come to the informational meeting.  We will be meeting in Room 731 on November 19th at 5:30 pm.  There will be an additional meeting on Dec 4 at 5:30 pm if you're unable to make the first one.   Feel free to email Ms. Heyward at Carly_heyward@dekalbschoolsga.org beforehand if you're unable to make either meeting or if you have additional questions.
