 PSAT
The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 to 8th graders who opt to take the test. The test is offered for practice. It is NOT required, but is highly recommended for students who are college-bound. The test will be given here at Peachtree during the regular school day. Many students have already paid for the PSAT on Registration Day. If your
child is "paid," they received the PSAT Student Handbook through their 5th period teacher on Thursday, August 28th.
Ms. Poh will start taking additional payments for the PSAT on Wednesday, September 3, every morning from 8:30 until 8:50. The fee is $17, exact change cash only. Fee waivers are available for students with financial need. Contact Ms. Poh if a fee waiver is needed. Payments and waiver requests will be accepted throughout the month of September.

 Attendance Office Needs Volunteers
The PCMS Attendance Office is looking for volunteers to help each morning. Duties include assisting students with passes and assisting Ms. King with daily office functions such as filing, recording messages, calling into classrooms, etc. Time slots are daily from 8:30 - 10:00 am. Volunteers Needed for Building Foundations (formerly Peer Proofing)
Building Foundations (formerly known as Peer Proofing) is a unique volunteer activity that allows parents to work directly in the classroom. It's a two day program facilitated by PCMS parents during health class. We show character building videos and facilitate discussion to address issues such as character, stress management, and risky behaviors. The program takes place two days during each of the four quarters that students take health. Our next session is September 11-12. Media Center Needs Volunteers
The PCMS Media Center needs your help! Please come and help shelve some books. There are openings every school day from 8:15-8:45 am. Click here to sign up! |
Spirit Wear
During registration, we sold out of a majority of our 2014-2015 Spirit Wear T-shirts. Based on the high demand, we are restocking the shelves!
PCMS Spirit Wear will be available for purchase at the school store each morning by September 12th! Please feel free to send your student to school with the appropriate funds to buy T-shirts, Performance shirt or a Hoodie to stay warm at school!

 CV Classic Family Sponsorships Available
PCMS will host the 5th Annual CV Classic 5K run on Saturday, October 18th, 2014. The money raised by this race will be used to fund the school nurse for our children. Please consider supporting our school with a family sponsorship for $100.
As a family sponsor, you will receive two entries to the race with t-shirts, and your family name will appear on the t-shirt as a family sponsor. The deadline to have your name on the shirt as a family sponsor is September 20.  Chorus Booster Club Meeting
Parents of chorus students are encouraged to attend the chorus parent meeting on Thursday, September 18th at 6 pm in the cafeteria. You will have the opportunity to register your chorus student, if you haven't already, and to learn about all the exciting events planned for this year. We'll see you there!!

 PCMS Drama
Thank you to all the parents who attended last week's parent meeting. We had a great turn out! Remember to record your attendance in the Volunteer Hours Log for the school.
If you have not signed up to receive the Drama email, please go to our website (www.pcmsboosterclub.com) and sign up and look at the calendar. If you have signed up and are still not receiving the emails, please send us a note at pcms_drama@yahoo.com. The informational meeting for students will be on Tuesday, September 9 (the week AFTER Labor Day), from 4-5:30 in the band room.
We are selling Chick Fil A calendars for $7 as a fundraiser. Please contact any Drama Club member for information on how to get a calendar.

LAST CALL! To be sure that you are included in the 2014-2015 PCMS Student Directory, please click on this link to input your student's information for this year's directory.
Even if you were included in last year's directory, you still need to fill out the online form to be included in this year's directory. All online entries must be submitted by September 8th to be included in the directory.
Note that if you do not want your student's information included in the directory, please be sure to check the "opt out" button on the form. If you have already filled out the form, and do not recall whether you opted out, please feel free to e-mail me directly at nnelson118@gmail.com, to confirm that you do not want your student's information in the directory.
Thank you for your help in ensuring the accuracy of our data. As in the past, a hard copy of the directory will be sent home during the first semester to those families who ordered the directory at PCMS registration via payment of the membership dues.
For anyone wanting volunteer hours, we will be looking for help sometime towards late September / early October to sort and label directories prior to distribution.
