 PCMS Accepts ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
PCMS showed their Patriot Pride this week, accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from Dunwoody High School, then sending the challenge on to Chamblee Charter Middle School. Watch all the fun here:

 Spotlight on School Social Workers
School Social Workers function as a link between the home, school, and community by bringing people together to promote the educational success of students. They intervene when there is a social, familial, or economic challenge that impacts the learning process of students, and they strengthen students' learning opportunities, achievements, and socio-emotional functioning by providing many services to students, families, and school staff. Throughout the year, the Dekalb County Student Social Workers issue a newsletter to provide more information on the valuable services they provide. Find this month's issue here.

 CV Classic Family Sponsorships Available
PCMS will host the 5th Annual CV Classic 5K run on Saturday, October 18th, 2014. The money raised by this race will be used to fund the school nurse for our children. Please consider supporting our school with a family sponsorship for $100.
As a family sponsor, you will receive two entries to the race with t-shirts, and your family name will appear on the t-shirt as a family sponsor. The deadline to have your name on the shirt as a family sponsor is September 20. Click here to visit the CV Classic registration page, then download the family sponsorship form and send your form with a check made payable to PCMS Foundation with CV Classic in the memo line. |

Support PCMS with Box Tops
Save those Box Tops! It's easy money to support PCMS. Here's how:
- Clip Box Tops from every day products that you buy
- Put them in a sandwich bag
- Write your name on the baggie along with grade and homeroom teacher's name
- 20 Box Tops = 1 entry
- The more Box Tops you turn in, the better chance you have!
- Place your labeled bag in the Box Tops containers located in the cafeteria and at the security desk at any time during the school year
- Drawings for teacher and student prizes will be held on October 3, 2014, February 6, 2015, and April 17, 2015, but please turn in Box Tops any time during the school year.

 Chick-fil-A Spirit Night
Please join us at Chick-fil-A Perimeter Pointe on Tuesday 8/26 from 6-8 for a spirit day supporting the PCMS football team. A portion of all proceeds will go to support the team. Just remember to tell the cashier you are with PCMS. Also, if you need a party platter for any upcoming holiday events, order one of CFAs platters during the spirit night and it can be picked up anytime for 30 days. The team will still benefit. Thanks!

Monday 8/25- Gold and Red teams will travel to Holy Innocents to play Marietta at 6:00pm and Holy Innocents at 7:00pm.
Wednesday 8/27- Gold and Red teams will travel to Chamblee Middle to play them at 5:00pm.
Saturday 8/30- Gold and Red will travel to Lambert HS to participate in the 2nd Annual Jr. Longhorn Jam. Pool play starts at 8:00am. |
 PCMS Drama
It was great to see so many new and returning Drama Club students at registration! Parent information meeting will be Tuesday, August 26 at 6p in the cafeteria. Student information meeting will be Tuesday, September 9 at 4p in the cafeteria. Our 2015 production will be Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Junior. Mark your calendars for Fall Festival on October 18, 2014 immediately following the CV Classic and the production on February 27-28, 2015 at 7p. 2014 - 2015 PCMS Student Directory
Thanks to everyone that has filled out the online form for the directory so far! To be sure that you are included in the 2014-2015 PCMS Student Directory, please click on this link to input your student's information for this year's directory.
Even if you were included in last year's directory, you still need to fill out the online form to be included in this year's directory. All online entries must be submitted by September 8th to be included in the directory.
Note that if you do not want your student's information included in the directory, please be sure to check the "opt out" button on the form. If you have already filled out the form, and do not recall whether you opted out, please feel free to e-mail me directly at nnelson118@gmail.com, to confirm that you do not want your student's information in the directory.
Thank you for your help in ensuring the accuracy of our data. As in the past, a hard copy of the directory will be sent home during the first semester to those families who ordered the directory at PCMS registration via payment of the membership dues.
For anyone wanting volunteer hours, we will be looking for help sometime towards late September / early October to sort and label directories prior to distribution.
