students in realizing their academic and personal dreams.     

From The Principal

Welcome back Patriots and welcome to our new Patriots! We hope you had a very good summer and we look forward to seeing you on August 11th.

In preparation for this school year it was necessary to make a few changes. Traditionally, lockers are issued during registration but due to the high number of students enrolled for this school year, all lockers will be issued the first week of school. In addition to the changes, when the students enter the building at 8:15 the 6th and 7th graders will report to the gym and 8th graders will report to the cafeteria.

If you were unable to attend the registration dates, there will be registration forms and schedules in the gym the first day of school from

8:15 - 8:55.

We thank the Foundation, teachers and parent volunteers for another successful year of Summer Bridge and 6th grade registration.

As you know, there are many ways to get involved and support your student at Peachtree Charter Middle School.  We are writing to inform you about the PCMS Foundation and ask you to consider making a donation to the Can You Imagine? Annual Fund. 

If you donated in the past, we thank you for your generosity.  If you have not, we encourage you to learn more about the Foundation and consider giving this year.

The PCMS Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to soliciting donations and grants to support long-term educational enhancements and/or extracurricular activities for Peachtree Charter Middle School.  The Foundation is committed to maximizing the school's faculty effectiveness as leaders and supporting the school students' academic and personal excellence.

We want to share some highlights of how the Foundation supports academic excellence:

• Provide pay for substitute teachers to allow for staff planning time to maximize resources within each department
• Purchase supplemental class books and classroom supplies as requested by teachers (such as Math on Call for all grades)
• Sponsor Academic Teams (including learning materials, travel & competition expenses)
• Provide supplies for Art Department
• Provide salary support for School Clinician
• Provide funding for Summer Bridge program
• Advance long-term goal of providing a laptop/tablet to each PCMS student

In addition, the Foundation helps pay for many important PCMS programs such as teacher and staff appreciation, Patriot Games, cultural arts, school beautification and the Learning Garden.

If you are looking for a way to make a difference and directly impact every child's academic experience at PCMS, please make a donation today.  The suggested donation is $125 per family (100% tax-deductible), but any amount will help reach our goal of $50,000.

PCMS would like to show our teachers & staff appreciation by having them start their day with a hardy breakfast on Monday, August 4th and snacks during registration.

Please bring the following documents:

1. Proof of residency (current mortgage deed or lease, June or July gas or electric bill, (NO phone or cable bills). Please bring 2 photocopies that will be kept by the school.
2. The NEW immunization Form 3231, it can for downloaded at this link it has TWO boxes on upper right hand corner) One photocopy required.

At Registration, you will complete the PTCC registration form and Charter Agreement.

Please bring checks or cash:

Agenda planners, PCMS spirit wear, yearbooks and PE uniforms will be available for purchase.  There will also be the opportunity to donate to the annual fund. After registering and purchasing required items, students will receive their class schedule for the first semester.

8^th Grade Registration, 8/6 at 11 AM (Wednesday) 

Please bring the following documents:

2.  If you are new to Dekalb County:  Current immunization form 3231 that shows proof of two MMR, two Varicella, and three Hepatitis B vaccines; one photo copy required.  

At Registration, you will complete the PTCC registration form and Charter Agreement.

Sign up for Drama Club and find out about one of the greatest love stories ever told!  Our 2015 production will be Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr."  The performances will be February 27th and 28th, 2015 at 7pm. And mark your calendars for Fall Festival on October 18th, 2014, immediately following the CV Classic!  Save your books for the Book Sale at the Fall Festival.  See you at registration on July 31st and August 6th!

Georgia Natural Gas TrueBlue Schools Program

Since 2008, Georgia Natural Gas has been supporting schools with their TrueBlue Schools program. They give $5 per month to your designated school for each registered customer. PCMS has benefited from this and collected $16,820 over the years for improvements at the school. Unfortunately, they are phasing out this program over the next twelve months. BUT you can still help PCMS get funds over the next school year.   Since it will be the last year, Georgia Natural Gas is only allowing new enrollments through June 30, 2014. This means that if you are a Ga Natural Gas customer and you aren't already enrolled in this program and you want to help PCMS AT NO COST TO YOU, you must enroll by the end of June. Please use this link to enroll today. www.trueblueschools.com and click the blue button that says "start helping your school today!" All you need to provide is your GNC account number from your bill! It's an easy way to help PCMS support our students and teachers. Act fast before time runs out!

PCMS Triathlon Team Needs You!

The PCMS Tri team will compete again this year in the Atlanta Kids Triathlon to be held Sunday, 8/24.  Among our 18 participants last year, 4 finished on the podium, including 2 division winners!  We hope to have a bigger team this year, and see PCMS students on the podium again!  This is a great triathlon, close to home and easy distance for beginners.  You do not have to be a PCMS student to compete w/our team - invite friends, neighbors and siblings!  Each participant earns $10 for the PCMS PE department.  Start training and mark your calendar for Sunday, 8/24!!  For more information and to register, visit http://www.atlantakidstriathlon.org/.  Enter PCMS as your team/group name.  PCMS Tri Team Contact:  amandahensley01@gmail.com.
