Charter Renewal Update
In the past month, PCMS requested a one year extension of its charter, along with the four other conversion charter schools in DeKalb County School District (DCSD).

The DCSD Charter Office contacted the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) regarding an extension of charter contract terms for all five of the conversion charter schools.

GADOE has denied the one year extension to all five DCSD conversion charter schools.  The GADOE Charter Office has recommended that the conversion charter schools move forward with the District's 2014 Petition
Cycle.  The State Board would like to see the conversion charter schools be autonomous.

PCMS will be working on essentially a full rewrite of our conversion charter petition to meet the GADOE standards of school autonomy for the petition deadline of August 15, 2014.

Allegra Johnson (ajwigwam@bellsouth.net) will chair our charter rewrite committee.  The rewrite committee will work on researching existing charters, deciding what we should ask for, and writing 100+ pages of new charter petition documents.  Thank you to the volunteers who have said they can help with this huge endeavor!   Volunteers with education, legal, writing, charter or research expertise are sought.

The committee will present the new charter petition to the parent community this summer once it is written, but before the petition deadline.

Texting and
Drop-Offs
We are seeing an increasing number of items being dropped off in the attendance office. It seems that some students are texting parents and parents are coming to the school to drop off requested items. A student caught texting will result in their phone being taken away and logged as 1st, 2nd or 3rd offense. The only items allowed for drop offs are eye glasses, medication, lunch money, lunches and house keys. There is also the matter of classes being constantly interrupted which is not conducive to the education of our students.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Anything Goes concerns the madcap antics aboard the ocean liner S.S. American bound from New York to London. Nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is on board and her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love Hope Harcourt. Problems arise because Hope is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. This love triangle becomes more entangled with the antics of Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope's heart.
