Calling All Skiers!
Attention ALL PCMS kids!
There will be a ski trip on Monday, February 17th (the day we have no school for Presidents' Day). Would you like to attend this ski trip? It isn't necessary for you to have had ski lessons at PCMS. If you have never skied before, a parent must accompany you on the trip. It is a very fun trip!
PCMS Ski Trip #3 - Details
When: Monday February 17th
Where: Cataloochee Ski Resort, Magie Valley NC
Cost: $89 per PCMS student, and each additional person $69 (cash or check payable to The Skiing Center). Family members and friends of PCMS students are welcome to join us. Please return completed form to Mrs. Cygnarowicz in the Art Room by Thursday, February 13th.
Trip will include:
Luxury Bus transporation, Lift Ticket,
Professional Lesson, all rental equipment
Time: 6:00 AM - 8:00 pm
(departing from and returning to Marist)
Wear: Waterproof outside layer, water resistant warm gloves, hat,
sunglasses/goggles, sunscreen, lip balm, change of clothes in a gym bag.
Food: Is NOT provided. You may bring snacks on the bus.
You may bring lunch or eat at the resort (we recommend $10) - dinner
will be CiCi's Pizza on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard - $6 includes unlimited
buffet and drink.

Marist School is located on the north side of Atlanta, at:
3790 Ashford-Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30319.
From I-285 East OR West,
take exit # 29 onto Ashford Dunwoody Road.
Head South towards Atlanta, away from Perimeter Mall.
Marist is located approximately 1.0 mile inside I-285 on the right hand side.

PCMS Geography Bee Winner
Jonah Paul is an 8th grader at Peachtree Charter Middle School and the winner of the 2013-2014 Geography Bee. Congratulations Jonah!
Before coming to PCMS, he attended Trickum Middle School where he finished third in the Geography Bee as a sixth grader. Jonah has had a love of geography since he was a young child, studying maps and atlases and always paying close attention while traveling.

Valentine's Day Flower Sale
Remember to purchase your flowers to support the Chorus Booster Club. Flower tags are available from your homeroom teacher or in the front office and Chorus room. The sale continues through Wednesday the 12th.
Flowers are $1 each and tags, with money attached, can be dropped in the boxes located in the front office and chorus room. Volunteers will also be at the school entrances each morning accepting your orders.

Blue Jean Donations
Did you know? Over 1.5 million teens and children are homeless. One of the items homeless teens request most is a pair of jeans. You can help by looking in your closets for jeans you no longer wear. BETA club members will be supporting our Partner in Education - Northside Hospital - by collecting jeans outside the gym and cafeteria on Thursday, February 13th. All blue jean donations will benefit 10 homeless charities in Georgia. |
Wanted! 8th Grade Girls to Play DHS Lacrosse!
DHS is looking for a few more players to form a JV lacrosse team and 8th graders are invited! If you're athletic, a runner and have fun in sports, come check out the newest team at Dunwoody High School. Contact Coach Rowe asap with your interest. We need another handful of players to make a JV team. Recruit a friend. Time is of the essence. A great first look at high school sports.

Chorus Booster Club Spirit Night Thursday, 2/13/14 at Chick-fil-A Perimeter Pointe
Come out and support your chorus program and enjoy dinner with friends. Free ice dream will be served and there might even be a chance to sing some karaoke.
A portion of all proceeds will got to support the chorus. Just remember to tell the cashier you are with PCMS . Also, if you need a party platter for any upcoming events, order one of CFAs platters during the spirit night and it can be picked up anytime for 30 days. Thanks for your support!

Fernbank STT Applications
Applications for the Fernbank Scientific Tools & Techniques (STT) program are available for 8th grade students to pick-up through Ms. Anne Poole, Room 822 from 8am to 3:30pm. The application deadline is Tuesday, February 18th in Room 822 by 3:00pm. This is a firm deadline.
The STT program is an intensive science program taken half-day during 1st semester of 9th grade. Students earn one Carnegie unit (HS credit) for Biology and one Carnegie unit for Earth Systems. Emory University School of Medicine is happy to announce open application and registration season for the 2014 Summer Science Academy for rising 9th- 12th grade students. Enter Your Volunteer Hours!
We are adding up all of the volunteer hours for the first semester and wanted to remind you of a few things:
- According to our charter, all Peachtree families are required to volunteer 10 hours per year
- Peachtree gets credit for having great family involvement when we are applying for grants but we have to show we have the hours
- Almost everything you do at or near PCMS counts!
- Donations are 1 hour for every $10
- Attending band/orchestra/chorus concerts counts as volunteering!
- Attending basketball games or other sports events counts
- One track meet would be practically all of your hours!
- Attending honors assemblies also counts as volunteering
- Attending the CV Classic or Drama fall festival counts!
- Attending the student showcase counts

6th Annual Youth Anti-Violence Contest
The 6th Annual Youth Anti-Violence Contest is well underway, and is now open to all students ages 8-19. This is an opportunity for youth to share their artwork, poetry, essays, or :60 sec video skits on the topics of bullying or teen safe driving. St
- Students in grades 3rd-5th may submit artwork or poetry on the topic of bullying.
- Students in grades 6th-12th may submit poetry, artwork or a :60 sec video skit on DVD representing the topics of teen driver safety or bullying.
- An incentive will be awarded to the teacher and classroom of the winning 3rd-5th grade student.
