PCMS Book Fair Starts Monday - Volunteers Still Needed!


The PCMS Scholastic Book Fair starts Monday - and we still need more volunteers!

  

Just in time to buy some great books for Thanksgiving break, PCMS Scholastic Book Fair will run November 18th-22nd. The Book Fair will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily. 

 

On Thursday, November 21st the Book Fair will be open an hour before the PCMS Fall Band Concert, allowing parents to drop off the kids at 6 pm and come browse Book Fair while you wait for the concert to begin at 7 pm.

 
Volunteers to work shifts are still very much needed!  Sign up to work shifts.

Stock Up on Spirit Wear for the Holidays!


Are you coming to the Band Concert on Thursday the 21st?  Stop by the School Store from 6-7 pm to stock up on your child's PCMS Spirit Wear!!

 

Have your 6th, 7th and 8th graders worn them so much they look faded? We have lots of bright blue and green female t-shirts and we stocked up on the new performance wear blue t-shirts!

 

We did sell out of PCMS blue hoodies for the winter but we have lots of red zipped hoodies and navy crew neck sweatshirts still available!  

 

These make great Hanukkah or Christmas gifts!!  We accept cash or checks! See you next Thursday.

Early Drop Off of Students


As the cold weather approaches, please be mindful that the school does not open until 8:15 for students to come into the building. PCMS Teachers and Staff are not required to be at work until 8:10 am; therefore, students who are dropped off before this time are left unsupervised. Please know that the Dunwoody YMCA offers before and after school care for anyone who may need their services.

Rising 9th Grade Registration


Dear Parents of Rising 9th Graders:

Your child's educational advisement meeting for rising ninth grade registration has been scheduled by eighth grade teams.  At the meetings, we will review program placement for 9th grade classes, and you and your student will make your diploma choice and elective course requests. You will also review and sign the GAcollege411 4-year Plan for high school graduation planning.

 

All meetings will be held in the Dunwoody High School auditorium, 5035 Vermack Road, Dunwoody 30338.

PCMS Drama Open Auditions


PCMS Drama Club will hold auditions on Dec 3rd and 4th4 pm to 8 pm for any PCMS students interested in performing in the Spring Musical, "Into the Woods, Jr."  Required sign-up and registration to be held Tuesday Nov 19th 4-6 pm outside the cafeteria. Anyone interested MUST sign up to get an audition or stagecraft interview time. Dues of $75 is required to participate.
 
Students should prepare 32 bars of a song (no more) that shows off their range and ability to "act" a song. No previous experience required.
 
Show rehearsals to start in late Jan 2014, show to be performed March 13-14, 2014.

The next box top collection day will be Friday, November 22nd.  Bring your box tops to school to be entered into the prize drawing!
 

PCMS Tennis Team Goes to Finals


The PCMS Tennis Team has made it to the Finals and will playing this Sunday. Please come out and support our team. They will be playing at the Roswell Park at 11:00 am. Congratulations to all of our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who have played their best! We wish you the best in the finals!

 


PCMS Drama Club Spirit Day - Tuesday 11-19


Stop by Jets Pizza at 2090 Dunwoody Club Drive or call (770) 730-8779 to order pizza to help us celebrate the end of our fall semester.  Jets will donate 10% of net proceeds to our club for pizza bought all day, so tell your family and friends.  Support the Arts!
 

2013 Young Playwrights for Change


Calling all budding playwrights: the Alliance Theatre is hosting the Georgia contest for a new nationwide playwriting competition for grades 6-8, and they want you to be involved.  Please follow this link for more information:  http://alliancetheatre.org/content/2013-young-playwrights-change.  Submissions are due by November 30, 2013

 

TYA/USA and AATE are launching a nationwide play writing contest for middle school students focused on giving voice to our nation's young writers.  The project looks to harness the creativity of young playwrights and bring focus to real world issues. The mission of Young Playwrights for Change is to produce meaningful conversations about the topic of bullying that will ripple across our nation to provoke change. Our goal is to spark conversation and discussion throughout classrooms, schools and communities about the chosen topic.

Gift Card Donations for the Holidays


As we approach the holidays, our social worker, Ms. Roque, is accepting donations of gift cards (KMart, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, etc.) for Peachtree families in need.  If you would like to make a donation, please bring the gift card(s) to Ms. Sellers in the main office, and log your donation into the system for volunteer hours.  Thank you, as always, for your generosity.
