Remembering the Rt. Rev. Robert C. Johnson, Jr.Board
Robert C. Johnson, Jr.
1938-2014

The 10th Bishop of North Carolina, the Rt. Rev. Robert Carroll Johnson, Jr., died on Friday, January 3, 2014. We give God thanks for a good, honorable, decent Christian man who served among us as faithful priest and bishop.

A private man, we remember and honor him by revisiting the vision he shared during his first address as bishop. Read his memorial.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 1:00p.m. at St. Luke's Durham.

Community Bulletin BoardBoard
  • Diocesan House is interested in information or media releases about activities during this year's Founders Week. We are especially interested in the event that includes recognition of some family members of the original Incorporators of Saint Augustine's Normal School in 1867. For more information or to submit information, please contact Lynn Hoke
  • Available for the taking from Diocesan House: a metal, two-drawer lateral file cabinet, slightly scuffed; 36" wide, 28" high, 19" deep. If getting organized is on your list of New Year's resolutions and you would like the cabinet, please contact Lynn Hoke
  • From the Episcopal Church:
    • In 2012, the General Convention expressed its desire that the Episcopal Church Center be moved out of its current building in New York City. The Executive Council Subcommittee on the Location of the Episcopal Church Center has issued a survey and is inviting Episcopalians to offer their input. Deadline for completing the survey is January 19, 2014.

The bulletin board is a great way to share announcements, needs and offerings around the Diocese. To include an item on the bulletin board, email us at communications@episdionc.org with your notice. Please keep it short (100 words max) and be sure to include contact information.

St. Philip's, Durham, recently received a very nice review of its Lessons and Carols service from a Mystery Worshipper over at Ship of Fools.

Blessings on St. Philip's Episcopal Church's continued work of sharing the Gospel and welcoming the stranger!
