 Nominations and Resolutions for Action Are Now Being Accepted  Feature      

 

The Diocese of North Carolina is currently taking resolutions for action and nominations for positions to be filled at the 197th Annual Convention to be held January 25-26 at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem. The nomination and submission deadline is 12:00pm, Monday, December 17, 2012. Resolutions may be submitted via email to [email protected]. Receipt of resolutions will be confirmed via email. Nominations may also be submitted online using this form. Nominations received after the deadline will be returned to the nominator.

   

Nominees and resolutions submitted on time will be made available on the diocesan website no later than January 3, 2012.

9-11 - Trinity Institute's 42nd National Theological Conference- Radical Christian Life: Equipping Ourselves for Social Change, Grace, Lexington. Grace will stream a live web cast of speakers at this national event and facilitate small group discussions in partnership with the School of Ministry. Register here

Celebration of New Ministry

The Right Reverend Michael B. Curry
will celebrate the new ministry of the Reverend Ollie V. Rencher as Rector of St. Peter's, Charlotte, on November 8 at 7:00pm.
Concerned about the effects of Hurricane Sandy on the Diocese of North Carolina, the Bishop of Jerusalem emailed Bishop Curry. Read Bishop Suheil Salman Dawani's message here

1 - Faith and Politics in the Election Season, 7:30pm, Duke Divinity School. Dr. Luke Bretheron, Associate Professor of Theological Ethics at the Divinity School and Senior Fellow at the Kenan Institute for Ethics, will be interviewed by the Rev. David Crabtree, deacon in the Diocese of North Carolina and news anchor at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, about how faith and politics intersect.

 

3 - Stories, Laughter, Music and Wisdom to Awaken the Heart and Soul, 8:00pm, St. Mark's, Raleigh. St. Mark's invites one and all to attend this year's Scholar in Residence program sponsored by Yavneh, A Jewish Renewal Community, with whom St. Mark's partners in providing opportunities for interfaith events. This year's guest speaker is Rabbi Chava Bahle.   

 

5 - Prepare/Enrich Training, 8:30am-4:00pm, Nativity, Raleigh. The Prepare/Enrich training is a one-day workshop designed to train and certify clergy, counselors and marriage educators to use a customized couple assessment in working with couples both premarital and married. 7 - Episcopal Church Foundation Web Conference: Basics of Capital Campaign, 7:00-8:00pm. 


11- Youth Lasagna Lunch & Theme Basket Raffle, Christ Church, Albemarle. Tickets are now on sale for this 3rd annual event, sponsored by the Parish Life Committee. The Youth Lasagna Lunch will take place in lieu of coffee hour. There is a suggested donation of $5 per plate with proceeds going to the Youth Fund and a donation toward Outreach. The Basket Raffle will take place afterward. Tickets are currently on sale. One ticket is 50� or 12 tickets are $5.   

 

11 - Poetry Reading with Grey Brown and Nancy Carter, 4:00pm, St. Matthew's, Hillsborough. This free event is part of the St. Matthew's Poetry Series.  

 

13 - Episcopal Church Foundation Web Conference: Finding Our Voice on Human Trafficking, 7:00-8:00pm.  


17 - EYC Hot Chocolate Sale, 8:00am-Noon, Good Shepherd, Raleigh. Good Shepherd's EYC will be set up in front of the church selling hot chocolate, coffee, water, soda, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Bojangles ham and sausage biscuits at the Raleigh Christmas Parade.  

 

18 - Sing With All the Saints In Glory! A Concert of Sacred Vocal Music, 5:00-6:30pm, Good Shepherd, Rocky Mount. Good Shepherd's own Maureen Kroncke, mezzo-sopprano, and Evans Harrell, bass, will be accompanied by Lawrence Goering in a program of music celebrating the lives of many saints and including works by Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Sullivan, Saint-Saens, Luzzi, Faure, Britten and Holst. The concert is free and open to the public.  

 


A group from St. Stephen's, Winston-Salem, will attend the Episcopal Church Office of Black Ministries' Lenten Pilgrimage through Suffering and Redemption: An Afro-Anglicanism Study Tour February 11-22, 2013, in Ghana and invites other interested parishes and missions to participate. If your parish or congregation is interested in participating, please contact the Rev. Michael Battle
