Mayan Fire Ceremony

The Mayan Fire Ceremony is a way of creating a vortex of energy that can be used as a portal into the Spirit world, where we can receive healings and offer prayers. The Mayan fire ceremonies do not use any wood. With prayers, a mandala is created out of natural materials. The ensarte and other herbs such as copal, cascarita, bolas, mirra, cuilco, pom blanco, and others are grown or collected by the traditional Maya in Guatemala and are prepared in a sacred way for these fire ceremonies.  The offerings that we put into the fire carry our prayers to the Creator. Each offering carries a different energy and intention, a different prayer, and the combination is a rich banquet of energies offered to the Creator.

When the fire is lit as we offer prayers to the directions, the Spirit enters the fire, much like life comes into the union of egg and sperm. The Mayan Aj Q'ij uses their knowledge of the matrix of life to coordinate their prayers and offerings to work with the energies present in that moment in time. They are trained to read the fire and gain wisdom for healing and answers to prayers. They usually bring medicines for the fire, and should be supported for their efforts to bring this healing ceremony to the people. The more offerings that can be given for the fire brings more blessings for ourselves, our families, the earth, and all our relations.

Mayan Fire Ceremonies can be done for communities, families, and individuals for deep healing, transformation, and gratitude. We strongly encourage bringing offerings for the fire.

Ceremonial Fire Materials:

  • Long taper all-natural candles of each color (red, black, white, yellow, green, blue)
  • Bars of chocolate
  • Jar of honey
  • 5-10 pounds of sugar
  • Dry herbs: sage, cedar, lavender, rosemary, juniper, sweetgrass, flower petals, medicinal roots, any other natural medicines that you personally use. (This is a healing ceremony)
  • Package of tobacco
  • Organic corn meal
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Bird seed
  • Small bottle of vodka or rum (for the spirits)

Guatemalan Fire Ceremony materials (provided by us):

  • Ensarte (this is the foundation for the fire)
  • Incenses: copal, yellow, mirra palitos, pom negro
  • Cuilco (for payment and petition to the Spirits)
  • Ocote (the heart of the sacred tree)
  • Guacalito
  • Tallow candles

These materials are grown, wildcrafted and processed by healers and traditional indigenous people. The only way we can get these materials is to travel to Guatemala and bring them up here- there is a lot of work and expenses involved to bring these materials, it is getting harder to get them through customs, and some of the materials are becoming harder to find. For these reasons, we ask for the costs to be covered to honor these medicines and the blessing that we are able to use them for the Mayan Fires that work specifically with these energies of ancient offerings.
