Elections are over (almost) and we're keeping an eye on hearings and budgets.  Here are some upcoming events that may be of interest to you:

  • Runoff for 2014 Primary Election (July 15)
    • Democratic Ballot for Sheriff - Countywide
    • Republican Ballot for US House - 6th District (Caldwell, Cameron Park, Cedar Grove, Efland, Eno, St. Marys and Tolars)
  •  "Understanding Poverty in America," Thursday, May 29, United Church of Chapel Hill, 7:00-9:00 PM, to examine the roots of systematic poverty.  Presented by Justice United, Organizing Against Racism and the Racial Equity Institute.  (click here for more)
  • Roots of the Piedmont Symposium, Saturday, May 31, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, starting at the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough.  Presented by Orange County Historic Preservation Commission, Preservation Chapel Hill and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough.    (click here for more)
  • County Budget Hearings
    to offer comments on the proposed budgets for 2014-15   
  • Bus Transportation Hearings planned to discuss options for service in Efland and Cedar Grove
    • 5:30-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 21, in the Mebane City Council Chambers, 106 E. Washington St., Mebane
    • 5:00-6:30 PM, Thursday, May 22, in the Town Barn, 101 E. Orange St., Hillsborough (parking on East Corbin Street)
    • 5:30-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, at the Efland-Cheeks Community Center, 117 Richmond Road, Efland
