Time: 7:10PM (EST) / 10:10PM (PST)
Topic: About his new documentary exposing the Muslim Brotherhood in America - Jihad in America: the Grand Deception

LOU DOBBS: Our next guest says the Muslim Brotherhood, and other radical Islamist off shoots are hiding in plain sight right here in the United States. He has documented it all in a new documentary- Jihad in America: The Grand Deception.

CLIP FROM GRAND DECEPTION: The Muslim Brotherhood is an international movement. The goal of which is to create an Islamic state universally all over the world.

In my mind and is the mother of all Islamic organizations of the 20th century, including Al Qaeda.

Democracy does not equal freedom. No, we do not want to democratize Islam, we want to Islamize democracy.

They believe that western civilization is corrupt, evil, decadent, and they want to dismantle it.

DOBBS: Joining us now is the documentary's producer, award winning journalist, Steve Emerson. Steve is also a director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Steve, it is good to have you with us. Thank you for being here. Let's start with the title of this documentary, The Grand Deception. Explain where that comes from, if you will.

STEVE EMERSON: Sure. Lou, the title Grand Deception actually came from a term that was invoked by a group of Muslim Brotherhood activists who secretly got together in Philadelphia in 1993 in a meeting that was actually wiretapped by the FBI, and in that meeting -- and the wiretaps have been declassified -- they openly talk about deception as the primary campaign tactic that they would use to change the image of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States by creating new front groups, by changing the terminology, by claiming they were against terrorism publicly but in fact raising funds for Hamas privately. The word deception is the word that I used in the title because that is exactly what is going on throughout the country with these radical Islamic groups. Not all of them are terrorists, Lou. They are radical in the same way that David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan are radical. Imagine if you had 150 KKK groups around the country being appointed to the State Department, being appointed to DHS, having their indictments dropped. This is what's going on with the radical Islamic lobby the tutelage of the Muslim Brotherhood which created all these groups when it started coming here in 1963. It was a deliberate effort to basically camouflage their true agenda, the agenda of creating an Islamic state. In the film we used informants to secretly tape many of these Muslim Brotherhood groups behind closed doors where they openly stated, 'the U.S. would become a Muslim state,' 'that Islam will prevail in the United States,' 'that Islamic terrorism does not exist' in fact.

In regard to claims made by several prominent Jewish organizations and others that the President makes policy and his cabinet members simply follow his direction - thereby justifying their failure to oppose President Obama's nomination of Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary - the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has pointed out that former Secretary of State Colin Powell acknowledged that the Defense Department has had substantial influence on presidential policy.

Obama's Remark Refutes ADL/NJDC Claim Hagel Won't Influence Obama
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has taken issue with the apologia offered by the  Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) for not opposing President Barack Obama's nomination of Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense. Both organizations are arguing essentially that Hagel's appalling record on Israel and the Middle East can be ignored because the president decides policy and that cabinet members comply with it.

Why Hagel is Doing a 180 on Israel, Iran

As expected, Hagel flipped on his anti-gay stance as well as his opposition to abortion rights for members of the armed services-issues that are important to the liberal Boxer. But by explicitly reversing his positions on Middle East issues that he had held throughout his years in the Senate and after he left Congress, Hagel has made it clear that he is willing to say anything necessary to win the approval of pro-Israel Democrats without whom he cannot win confirmation. The man who once popped off about how he was not like all the members of the Senate when it came to embracing the pro-Israel and anti-Iran consensus now can't be loud enough in his professions of support for that line.

This tells us two things.

One is that the administration knows that the real Chuck Hagel who was well known to be hostile to the pro-Israel community and was an advocate of engagement with Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah can't be confirmed as secretary of defense. If they are to sell the Senate on their former colleague, it will require a complete rebranding in which the Nebraskan throws his "realist" foreign policy views, which endeared him to Israel-bashers and caused even the Iranians to embrace his nomination, out the window.

That means the campaign launched against his confirmation by those who rightly viewed him as a figure outside the mainstream when it came to many foreign policy issues is succeeding. Hagel's cheering section in the media and the Washington establishment has sought to put down his opponents as mad dog neoconservatives and extremists. But the former senator's willingness to abandon his views shows that his White House handlers understand that it was Hagel that was out of touch, not his critics.

Secondly, the process by which Hagel has been forced to do a 180 on stands that were integral to his worldview also illustrates that President Obama is not as free to pursue policies in his second term that contradict the rhetoric he used during his re-election campaign as some of his left-wing supporters hoped and his right-wing foes feared.

Schumer supports Hagel for defense secretary

New York Democratic Rep. Chuck Schumer announced Tuesday that he will support Chuck Hagel's nomination for defense secretary, a breakthrough for President Barack Obama's effort to have his appointee confirmed in the Senate.

"Based on several key assurances provided by Senator Hagel, I am currently prepared to vote for his confirmation," Schumer said in a statement. "I encourage my Senate colleagues who have shared my previous concerns to also support him."

As the highest-ranking Jewish member in the Senate, Schumer had voiced concerns about Hagel's past comments about the United States' relationship with Israel and the possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran. But after meeting with him Monday at the White House, Schumer said that Hagel gave him the assurance he needed to support his confirmation.

"When Senator Hagel's name first surfaced as a potential nominee for Secretary of Defense, I had genuine concerns over certain aspects of his record on Israel and Iran. Once the President made his choice, however, I agreed to keep these reservations private until I had the opportunity to discuss them fully with Senator Hagel in person," Schumer said. "In our meeting Monday, Senator Hagel clarified a number of his past statements and positions and elaborated on several others. ... I know some will question whether Senator Hagel's assurances are merely attempts to quiet critics as he seeks confirmation to this critical post. But I don't think so. Senator Hagel realizes the situation in the Middle East has changed, with Israel in a dramatically more endangered position than it was even five years ago. His views are genuine, and reflect this new reality."

As the third ranking Senate Democrat, Schumer's support should clear the way for most Democrats to approve of Obama's nomination. Democrats hold a 55-45 seat majority in the Senate, but would need at least 5 Republicans to support Hagel's nomination to reach the 60-vote threshold to defuse a potential GOP filibuster.

Schumer listed many of his prior concerns about Hagel, which he listed in his full statement:

When Senator Hagel's name first surfaced as a potential nominee for Secretary of Defense, I had genuine concerns over certain aspects of his record on Israel and Iran. Once the President made his choice, however, I agreed to keep these reservations private until I had the opportunity to discuss them fully with Senator Hagel in person.

In a meeting Monday, Senator Hagel spent approximately 90 minutes addressing my concerns one by one. It was a very constructive session. Senator Hagel could not have been more forthcoming and sincere.

Based on several key assurances provided by Senator Hagel, I am currently prepared to vote for his confirmation. I encourage my Senate colleagues who have shared my previous concerns to also support him.

The meaning of Hagel

ByCharles Krauthammer

"This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility."

-- Barack Obama to Dmitry Medvedev, March 26, 2012

WASHINGTON -- The puzzle of the Chuck Hagel nomination for defense secretary is that you normally choose someone of the other party for your Cabinet to indicate a move to the center, but, as The Washington Post editorial board points out, Hagel's foreign policy views are to the left of Barack Obama's, let alone the GOP's. Indeed, they are at the fringe of the entire Senate.

So what's going on? Message sending. Obama won re-election. He no longer has to trim, to appear more moderate than his true instincts. He has the "flexibility" to be authentically Obama.

Hence the Hagel choice: Under the guise of centrist bipartisanship, it allows the president to leave the constrained first-term Obama behind and follow his natural Hagel-like foreign policy inclinations. On three pressing issues in particular:

(1) Military Spending -- Current Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in August 2011 that the scheduled automatic $600 billion defense cuts ("sequestration") would result in "hollowing out the force," which would be "devastating." And strongly hinted that he might resign rather than enact them.

Asked about Panetta's remarks, Hagel called the Pentagon "bloated," and needing "to be pared down." Just the man you'd want to carry out a U.S. disarmament that will shrink America to what Obama thinks is its proper size on the

world stage, i.e. smaller. The overweening superpower that Obama promiscuously chided in his global we-have-sinned tour is poised for reduction, not only to fund the bulging welfare state but to recalibrate America's proper role in the world.

Chuck Hagel - It's the anti-Americanism, stupid

 CAROLINE GLICK,   January 13, 2013, 2:29 PM

Obama Hagel Brennan.jpg

Chuck Hagel hates Jews. Or should I say, he hates Jews who think that Jews have rights and that their rights should be defended, in Israel by the government and the IDF, in America by Israel's supporters.
As I mentioned before, it is not at all surprising that Obama appointed Hagel, and I see little  chance that the Senate will reject his appointment. Israel and its American friends however can take heart that Israel will not be Hagel's chief concern.

Hagel -- and Obama -- have bigger fish to fry than Israel. They are looking to take on the US military. They will slash military budgets, they will slash pensions and medical benefits for veterans in order to save a couple dollars and demoralize the military. They will unilaterally disarm the US to the point where America's antiquated nuclear arsenal will become a complete joke. And I don't see the military capable of stopping it. Anyone remember the F-22?

I find the whole Israel angle on Hagel irritating because of this. Yes, Hagel will be bad to Israel. But we can minimize the damage by diversifying our own arsenal and weaning ourselves off of US military handouts that only serve as work subsidies for US military contractors at the expense of Israeli ones. Moreover, for years that military aid has been a corrupting force on Israel's general staff. I've been advocating ending US military aid to Israel for more than a decade, but better late than wait until we find ourselves at war and out of spare parts because Hagel and Obama won't sign the requisition orders to Boeing and Lockheed.

Unlike Israel, the US military cannot minimize the damage that Hagel and Obama will cause. America's capabilities will suffer at the hands of the duly reelected Commander in Chief and his duly appointed Defense Secretary. The only chance to dodge that bullet was on Election Day and the American people blew it.

By making this a story about Hagel the anti-Semite, nice senators like Lindsey Graham and John McCain are obfuscating the main problem. The main reason Hagel shouldn't be appointed is not because he hates Israel. It is because he hates a strong America.  READ MORE

Iran Again Expresses Satisfaction Over Obama's Nomination of Hagel

Earlier this month, Iran's Fars News Agency informed us in an article entitled "Chuck Hagel's Nomination: Iran Hopes for Practical Changes in US Foreign Policy" (http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9107134107) that Tehran is pleased by Obama's nomination of Chuck Hagel as America's next secretary of defense. Next, Iran's Press TVdeclared that Hagel is "anti-Israeli" (http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/01/05/281902/antiisraeli-tops-obama-pentagon-choice/). Today, in its lead online article entitled "Hagel remarks on Israel, Iran controversial" (http://www.mehrnews.com/en/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=1788426), Iran's Mehr News is telling us:

"Political analysts in US believe that Hagel, learning lessons from Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars, and US strategic miscalculations in Central Asia and Africa, had come to believe that Washington is far from starting a new adventurist enterprise, with the result being no more than economic disaster and dwindled American hegemony in international scene, if US launches a war without the consent of international community. Accordingly, Hagel would keep US at bay from adventurism about Iran, and would try bringing US policies to convergence with its allies in line with Obama's policies. This possibility has sparked the Zionist lobby (AIPAC) and its allied representatives in Congress, who believed that Obama, with Hagel on the Pentagon, would not pose the Iran strike as a serious option.

. . . .

US political circles had it that in meeting with Obama, Hagel has said that Benyamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, do not appreciate US helps, and has become isolated as the result of political extremism."

U.S. Should Oppose EU Mideast Plan

Speculation about President Obama's intentions to push a revival of the moribund Middle East peace process may increase today with reports of plans for a new European Union initiative. According to Ynet News, the British and French foreign ministries are concocting the plan with the support of Germany and the European Union. The conceit of the scheme is a return to the familiar theme of an accord based on the 1967 lines with a division of Jerusalem and agreed-upon swaps of territory between Israel and the Palestinians. It is expected that it will include specific details such as a demand for an absolute freeze in Israeli building in the territories including those areas that it might keep under the swaps. Even more troubling is the notion that the negotiations will be in the context of a regional committee which will include not only the Europeans, Israelis and Palestinians but also nations such as Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf states, a situation in which the Jewish state would be outnumbered, isolated and backed into a corner without much room for diplomatic maneuvering.

The only real variable as far as the push to implement such a plan is the United States. While the Europeans have reportedly held off on putting forward their plan until after President Obama was safely elected and then inaugurated, the question remains as to whether the administration will put its weight behind it. While on the face of it, the plan ought to be to President Obama's liking since he has pushed Israel hard on settlements, Jerusalem and the '67 lines, these attempts to strong-arm the government of Prime Minister Netanyahu have always been in the context of American-led negotiations. As with much of the rest of his Middle East foreign policies, it seems the administration is prepared to "lead from behind" on this track and throw its support behind a European initiative, marking a significant policy departure from past efforts in which the president made the Israel-Palestinian issue a priority. If he's willing to defer to the EU here, it will be a step that could rightly be interpreted as abandoning Israel to a forum in which it will be treated badly.

There hasn't been a lot of good news recently for pro-Israel watchers of campus culture, but in the unlikeliest of places, by the unlikeliest of Zionists, there is finally good news to share.

The University of New Orleans has nearly 13,000 undergraduate students, fewer than 100 of whom are Jewish.  There are no Jewish studies courses, there are no Jewish services available and there is no kosher food available on campus.  But what UNO does have is Chloe' Simone Valdary.

Valdary, a sophomore, majors in international relations.  Her particular interests are history, religion, philosophy, politics and current events.  Although she is Christian, Valdary decided to write a major paper her freshman year on the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The research she did for her paper alarmed her, and Valdary resolved to do what she could to fight Jew-hatred.  She created an organization on Campus, "Allies of Israel."  There are currently only nine members of the group, but the membership is likely to soar soon.  Their first major event will be held on January 28.

Netanyahu aides: Obama meddling in Israeli elections

Likud politicians attack U.S. President Barack Obama over his remarks to journalist Jeffrey Goldberg * "This has the fingerprints of the Left all over it, Obama is blatantly meddling in the elections" * According to the article, Obama believes "Netanyahu is moving his country down a path toward near-total isolation."

The White House is not denying a report that President Barack Obama repeatedly said that "Israel doesn't know what its own best interests are," POLITICO reported Tuesday.

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor, in a statement to POLITICO on Tuesday, did not confirm or deny that Obama made the comment "or what was allegedly discussed in private meetings."

"The president has been clear in stating what he believes is a realistic basis for successful negotiations, and we will continue to base our efforts on that approach," Vietor said. "He has also consistently stated that the U.S. commitment to Israel's security is unwavering, and he has backed up this commitment with tangible action."

Sources close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday brushed off Obama's critical remarks, as published in an article by Jeffrey Goldberg on Bloomberg News.

"The prime minister will continue to protect the national interests of the State of Israel, and will not make any compromises that will undermine the security of Israeli citizens," one Netanyahu associate said.

U.S. Criticizes Egypt's Leader for Anti-Semitic Remarks

Multimedia

In a three-year-old video clip thatresurfaced recently, Mr. Morsi, then a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, urged Egyptians to "nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred" for Jews and Zionists. In another video clip from 2010 that was recently distributed by a Washington research group, Mr. Morsi referred to "Zionists" as "these bloodsuckers who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs."

Asked about Mr. Morsi's anti-Semitic statements during a briefing at the White House, Jay Carney, the press secretary, said, "We have raised our concerns over these remarks with the government of Egypt."

He added: "We completely reject these statements, as we do any language that espouses religious hatred. This kind of discourse has been acceptable in the region for far too long and is counter to the goal of peace. President Morsi should make clear that he respects people of all faiths."

Representatives of Mr. Morsi have declined repeated requests to comment on the remarks, and on Tuesday they again remained silent.

Though inflammatory anti-Semitism is a staple of political discourse of all stripes in Egypt, Mr. Morsi's vitriolic statements threaten to undermine his efforts to build a reputation as a leader for moderation and stability in the Middle East. And attention to his remarks may embolden critics in Israel and the West who distrust his commitment to peace with Israel because of his background as an Islamist.

What is more, Mr. Morsi already faces attacks from ultraconservative Islamists and the left that he is too close to the United States and, by extension, Israel. Were he to back away from his remarks, he could become more vulnerable to such criticism.

Mr. Carney emphasized that the White House was still ready to work with the Egyptian president. "Since taking office, President Morsi has reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to its peace treaty with Israel in both word and deed and has proved willing to work with us toward shared objectives, including a cease-fire during the crisis in Gaza last year," he said.

"This is about action," Mr. Carney added. "It's about deeds."

Netanyahu to 'Post': I won't uproot masses of Jews

01/18/2013 06:17

PM concedes that he and Obama "have our differences" on how to achieve peace with Palestinians, says settlement blocs will remain part of Israel in any deal "and that's where most construction is taking place."

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu

As he sought to stop voters leaving Likud Beytenu for Naftali Bennett's Bayit Yehudi party on his right, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told The Jerusalem Post this week that a "real and fair" accord with the Palestinians cannot include driving masses of Jews from their homes in settlement blocs beyond the Green Line.

"I think that there is recognition that ultimately there has to be a real and fair solution, and that certainly doesn't include driving out hundreds of thousands of Jews who live in the suburbs of Jerusalem, and in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, in the Ariel bloc," Netanyahu said in an interview in his Jerusalem office.

"I think that is unrealistic."

Asked whether immediately after the elections he would put a diplomatic initiative on the table, and what he knew of any initiative by the Europeans to present a new peace plan, Netanyahu talked more about explaining Israel's position to the world than presenting any proposal of his own.

There would surely be "many initiatives," and "we'll have an important task in trying to tell the truth to the world," he said.

That truth, he explained, was that the settlement issue was not the core of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, nor was the Palestinian issue the core of instability in the Middle East.

"The core of the conflict is the persistent refusal of the Palestinians to recognize the Jewish state in any boundary," he declared. READ MORE

Rain Uncovers Gaza Terror Tunnel Inside Israel

The IDF accidentally discovered a terror tunnel preventing a terror attack/kidnapping from Gaza.
Gaza-Tunnel-485x485

The IDF discovered a terror tunnel inside Israel that originated from within the Gaza strip. The tunnel's reached 100 meters inside Israel, and ended between Kibbutz Nir Oz and the Gaza security fence.

The IDF troops were on operational duty at the time near the southern Gaza border when they saw a section of ground that collapsed. Upon closer investigation it was discovered that a section of the ground over the tunnel had collapsed inward, apparently because of the rain.

The IDF is trying to determine when the tunnel was dug, and is looking at this as a very serious event, and very specifically as an attempt to commit a terror attack against Israeli civilians and the IDF.

The IDF tweeted that the large tunnel was similar to the tunnel used to kidnap Gilad Shalit in 2006.

There is also concern that there might be additional tunnels in the area that weren't discovered.

On Monday, Abu Muhmad, spokesman for Islamic Jihad said that, "Kidnapping soldiers is the only way to free Palestinian prisoners from jail."

Don't be fooled: Iran wants the bomb

Ahmad Hashemi is a former Iranian foreign ministry employee who worked as an interpreter... [More]

Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili recently said his country has agreed to resume talks on its nuclear program later this month. At the same time, the IAEA and the international community, particularly the European countries, have stepped up efforts to revitalize the futile negotiating process. During my four and a half years as an employee of the Iranian foreign ministry, I learned beyond doubt, that my country's participation in talks is purely a stalling tactic. Having fled to Turkey to seek political asylum, I know that I'm far from the first Iranian to try and warn the world of Tehran's determination to obtain weapons of mass destruction.

It was almost a decade ago that the People's Mujahedin, Iran's leftist opposition in exile, first revealed the clandestine nuclear activities carried out by the regime, providing the exact addresses of some of the facilities, and letting the world know about the Islamic theocracy's true ambitions for acquiring nuclear bombs. Since then, Iran has attended dozens of negotiating rounds merely to convince naïve politicians and dewy-eyed peaceniks that it is telling the truth. Within this context, Tehran maintains that it is trying to use diplomatic means to prove that Iran is merely working to harness nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in order to meet increasing domestic energy demand as it runs out of fuel. Iran likewise exploits the matter at home, whipping up populist nationalism with leftist-style demagoguery that depicts its nuclear program as a cardinal matter of national pride.

In October 2012, we published here "What Is behind the Mysterious Sealed Gates of Jerusalem's Old City?"

The essay showed two incredible 85-year old photographs of columns and chambers under the Temple Mount from the archives of the Library of Congress/American Colony collection of photographs. The captions under the pictures read "The Temple area, the Double Gate. Ancient entrance to Temple beneath al Aqsa." The pictures were taken between 1920 and 1933, according to the caption.

We theorized in October that the American Colony photographer gained access to the area under the al Aqsa Mosque, partially destroyed in the 1927 earthquake.

Nadav Shragai, a scholar on Jerusalem sites, reported in a Yisrael HaYom article last year, that Robert Hamilton, director of the British Mandate Antiquities Authority, had explored under the mosque at the time. He "photographed, sketched, excavated and analyzed" what he saw. But he promised the Islamic Authorities, theWaqf, that he would make "no mention of any findings that the Muslims would have found inconvenient" such as findings from the time of the Jewish Temples.

This water expert from Israel is on a mission to save the Noyyal

TNN Jan 11, 2013, 04.30AM IST

COIMBATORE: It was during a chance visit to Coimbatore two years ago, Israel's renowned water expert Dr Yoram Oren heard of the slow but steady death of the region's mighty rivers Noyyal and Bhavani due to the large scale discharge of toxic effluents by dyeing units along the river shores. He was in the city to address a water management conference in his capacity as an expert on desalination and reverse osmosis. After two more visits to the city and the setting up of a unique electro chemical water lab at Karunya University, Oren decided to devote his time and effort towards the revival of the two rivers by participating in an ongoing research to achieve zero discharge from dyeing units. The high court order closing down polluting dyeing units also prompted Oran to stay back and help find a solution.

It has been a year since Oren began his research work on the separation of textile dyes by means of nano-filtering. Oren believes that nano-filtration membrane separation is an effective way to ensure zero discharge from dyeing units. "I have completed more than half my research work. My team comprising water experts from leading institutions in South India find nano-filtration to be the most suitable option when compared to other methods including desalination and reverse osmosis. It is also cost effective and the filtered water can be recycled or released into the river without causing any harm,'' he said. Hailing from Ben-Gurion University in Israel, Oren would soon submit his findings to Union Ministry of Science and Technology and the state government. READ MORE

It Is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl
It Is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl

About this Film

It Is No Dream examines the life and times of Theodor Herzl, the journalist and playwright who was responsible for creating the political movement that led in 1948 to the creation of the Jewish state, Israel. It is the latest feature of Moriah Films, the two time Academy Award winning documentary film division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an international human rights organization and NGO with over 400,000 member families.

Narrated by Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley and starring Academy Award Winner Christoph Waltz as the voice of Theodor Herzl, It Is No Dream examines how Theodor Herzl, an assimilated Jew, born into a traditional but mostly non-religious family in Budapest in 1860, was changed by the trial of Captain Alfred Dreyfus in Paris, which he covered as a journalist in 1895. Previously, he had advocated the mass conversion of Jews to Christianity as a solution to the growing anti-Semitism of Europe. However, after witnessing the court proceedings where Dreyfus was falsely convicted of treason and the anti-Jewish demonstrations of the French public, Herzl became convinced that the only answer to the anti-Semitism that was spreading across Europe was the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine, the Biblical homeland of the Jewish people. He wrote a political treatise entitled "Der Judenstaat" or "The Jewish State" that became an international bestseller, laying out his ideas for creating a new Jewish state.
