If you farm, we need your help - and we'll make a contribution to the Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC) program if you respond.

Farm Bureau constantly provides value for you, our members. In cooperation with Illinois State University's Department of Agriculture, we have a brief, confidential questionnaire for farm owner/operator members at this link for you to help us evaluate some of our Farm Bureau programs and services.

I promise, this will only take a few minutes! If you complete it, we will make a $1.00 contribution to IAITC.

Again, please complete the questionnaire. All responses will remain confidential and will help us to increase our effectiveness and provide value to you.

Thank you, Richard Guebert Jr., President Illinois Farm Bureau

Energy Price Declines in 2014

The Energy Information Administration's new "Today in Energy" brief looks at how energy had the biggest price declines among commodities in 2014.

The first eight months of 2014 were much like 2013, as energy commodities remained in a relatively stable price range, according to EIA. Further, during the last four months of 2014, crude oil and petroleum product prices fell dramatically, and ended the year with the largest price drops of all major commodities in the S&P Goldman Sachs Commodity Index.

Prices for nickel, zinc and aluminum were among the few commodities that increased in 2014, while the prices of crude oil, petroleum products, natural gas, grains and other metals declined.

Still Time to Complete Survey

The American Farm Bureau Federation's Women in Ag Survey seeks to understand what women in agriculture are thinking about the future and the leadership skills they need to be successful. There's still time to complete a survey.

AFBF's Robin Kinney explained why the survey is important on Newsline. "The in-depth questions that we're asking will help us reveal how and what the future will look like with women in agriculture," Kinney said.

All women involved in agriculture are invited to complete a survey.  Complete surveys will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards.

COMMON SENSE

On January 9, 1776, Thomas Paine published Common Sense that challenged the authority of the British government and the royal monarchy.

The plain language that Paine used spoke to the common people of America and was the first work to openly ask for independence from Great Britain.

"Give me Liberty

or Give me Death."
