After his "top notch" experience at The Scarborough Hospital, Mark Willis is no longer afraid of hospitals - or at least not TSH.
 

Mark recently underwent hip replacement surgery at the General campus and after five days in the hospital, he was released and his recovery has been progressing well. He's had little pain and has passed the 30-day mark without any need for readmission. At 1.5 per cent TSH's rate of re-admission after hip and knee replacements is lower than the provincial average of 2.7 per cent.

The Scarborough Hospital's commitment to going green and using reusable textiles has earned the organization the Booth Centennial Healthcare Linen Services (BCHLS) Green Award for the second year in a row.

In October, the five winning hospitals for the 2012 award were announced, and TSH and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre were the only return winners.

"For us as an organization, this award means we are continuing in the right direction and maintaining our values of accountability and integrity," says Nurallah Rahim, Patient Care Director, Surgical Services, Ortho and Rehab at TSH. "We are pleased to be recognized for our environmental consciousness and fiscal responsibility, while ensuring continued delivery of high-quality care to our patients."
