When Henry Tsang sprained his ankle he tried to nurse the injury at home, but the pain finally forced him to visit The Scarborough Hospital's Birchmount campus.
He found the experience wasn't what he'd been expecting.
Henry delayed going to the hospital because he'd heard so many stories about long wait times and poor treatment, but had to relent when the pain got too bad. The care he found in the Emergency Department and the fracture clinic was courteous and professional.

The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) was recognized for four quality leading practices and praised on "the cooperation and transparency of both staff and physicians" as it received a three-year accreditation from Accreditation Canada.
The Accreditation Canada Surveyors granted TSH a 98.6 per cent overall compliance rate within all quality standards - higher than the 96 per cent it received in 2009 - and validated the work TSH has done in enhancing its programs and services to achieve excellence. Some highlights include:

Thanks a million to all staff, volunteers, physicians and community members who supported the first ever Scarborough World Gala Lifetime Achievement Award hosted on November 10 by The Scarborough Hospital Foundation.
The Foundation reached its goal to raise $1 million for the Chronic Kidney Disease program at The Scarborough Hospital, which is one of the largest in North America.

As part of a McMaster University research project, we're gathering feedback on what creates a hospital's reputation and how we might improve it.
Reflecting on your experiences here at the hospital and out in the community, your thoughts on reputation will allow us to better address the needs of this community.
