Whole Foods Market - America's Healthiest Grocery Store®
Know Your Strawberries We believe in rewarding farmers for using best practices and delivering positive results. Our Responsibly Grown ratings system for fresh produce and flowers uses scientific input to help you make informed choices when you shop. Our farmer partners are working hard to protect human health and the environment while bringing us (and you) the best strawberries around! Choose berries that are firm, dry, shaped properly and have a uniform deep-red color with attached green caps. Strawberry season runs from February through October with peak availability from May through July. When selecting strawberries, it is important to inspect the packaging carefully to look for signs of wet, leaky berries. Storing Tip: Because strawberries are highly perishable, be prepared to consume or freeze them soon after purchase. Excessive moisture will speed decay, so wash berries just before you serve them.
