Veterinarians Ensure Safety and Health for Animals at the NILE
Billings, MT-- Over 1,500 animals will be on MetraPark Fairgrounds over the span of the week of October 15 through October 22, 2016. These animals are checked for health and safety by local veterinarians.

Fourteen different cattle breeds have shows over the week, as well as the four different species for the Jr. Fed Show, and commercial heifer classic pen show. The full schedule of shows can be found on at thenile.org   

Horse events fill the week with a timed-event challenge, barrel race, AQHA show, NRCHA show, halter and reining classes, and sales. The full schedule can be found at  thenile.org

The NILE puts on four nights of rodeo action. Kicking off the week is the Farstad Oil Ranch Rodeo Finals Saturday, October 15 at 7 p.m. Professional rodeo athletes come to town Thursday, October 20 for the Cat/Griz Shoot Out rodeo. Cowboys and Cowgirls sport pink for the Tough Enough to Wear Pink rodeo Friday, October 21, and the NILE salutes police for the Patriot Night rodeo Saturday, October 22. All rodeos begin at 7 p.m.
Dr. Caleb Lund with Lund Equine in Huntley, Montana handles the horses that participate at the NILE.  Dr. Lund's interest in veterinary medicine began as a ranch kid, where he witnessed firsthand just how important large animal health is both personally and economically to ranching families. Dr. Lund graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He earned a three-year equine surgery residency from Washington State University.
Dr. Stacey Wetherelt of Montana Mobile Vet Service takes care of the cattle, hogs, lambs, and goats. She is based out of Joliet, Montana but provides service to all areas of Carbon, Big Horn, Stillwater, and Yellowstone Counties. Dr. Wetherelt attend Colorado State University. She will also be available and on call for the four rodeo performances in the case of emergency.
